so the SA tells me that is lower ball joints.....lower ball joints waht??? .......uhhh its an AMG thing......Ok did u check the strut bearings like it was the probalem in Feb 2015.......Sir we are pretty confident its the lower ball joints...ok
so iget the car, the second i drive off its groaning.....*** you Fletcher jones...i pull right back in and talk to the SA larrry crecucus......idiot.....he has no answer....except "I didnt test the car myself" what a POS.....so we get the drive tech, same guy who went with me 2 days ago....he is so embarrassed because he can hear it after 2 seconds.........
so i freaking took the the car right back....and Larry is like....so do u want to leave it again........yeah you dumb truck you jack asses ddidnt fix crap....... so i basically traded my c300 rental for a glc300

I would suggest scheduling with the service advisor a time when you and the technician can drive the car to demonstrate that there is no more of the symptoms. Too often I have picked up the car and it has the exact same symptoms, but one thing I learned is that these guys are extremely busy and you have to schedule a test drive prior to pick up of the vehicle, with the service advisor or with the master technician to demonstrate that the problem has been solved.
i feel your pain. I don't know what stirring the pot or igniting more flames will help you with if you go to corporate or MBUsa at this point. The dealer, though they are not able to fix the problem yet, is earnestly demonstrating that they are willing to try again to fix the problem. Keep your cool (and I'm sure you are) and let them demonstrate that they can fix it unfortunately it may take several attempts, certainly it's always up to you to escalate but usually when you escalate the relationship between you and their dealerships sours
you likely recall my transmission story with the e550

Two things I want to ask you before writing an essay lol
does it groun when your turn your wheel on curved surface ?
what is your weather like? It usually makes this sound when it's wet and raining.

Sorry to hear about this. I would start with FJMB before escalating to corporate. Give them a chance to make it right. Otherwise, I can see them dragging their feet or not going the extra mile after they've been taken to the corporate woodshed.

weather is southern cali - nice weather....sounds were more prominent in morning start up and back out of garage....but that was back in the days....now they are all the time, car hot, car cold, rain, dry etc etc
when i took car in, last week, the drive tech sat with me and heard it....and on pick up after alleged fix, the same drive tech sat with me and heard it again....he seemed so embarrassed...
when they test drove the car, but probably drove at higher speeds, u cant hear it unless its slow speeds and turning.....
service guy texted today, said that the foreman, drive tech and repair person have all confrimed the sounds....lets see what happens monday

Would you mind PMing me your email address? I'd like to send you a video to see if you think you have the same sound. It's been completely aggravating.
EDIT: Just read your old thread. Does it only happen when steering? It does happen more often when doing U-turns, but it definitely happens a lot when going straight too, so I don't think my issue is entirely steering related.

i feel for you man and your frustration. i didnt want to chime in here, but i'm gonna just say it....
im in chicago and fletcher jones chicago mercedes is absolutely terrible and i would never go back there. maybe there are some FJ dealers in their network that are pretty good but i have not experienced that yet. i understand their 185 hourly rate for top notch MB technicians but that is a joke when you take a vehicle back 2-3 times and they still can figure out whats wrong OR like in your case they didnt seem to even take the time to look/listen for the issue when duplicating the issue is obvious...
perhaps try another MB dealer in your area since you're under warranty. i drive out to Barrington Motor Werks MB which is 30 miles away to avoid going to FJ Mercedes which is 2 miles from me as i have zero faith in them touching my car. Motor Werks has been outstanding although i hate the 30 mile dive

I just uploaded a video with the sound that I get from my car. It's usually not as consistent as this. It typically lasts 0.5 - 2 seconds, but in this case, it lasted for 7 minutes or so.
I'm not really someone who uploads videos, so hopefully I've got the permissions right for you to try it out:

I have this noise only in the left front since buying the car 2 years ago. They replaced the electric rack (no difference). Then they replaced the left front spring cradle "bearing."
Each time after replacement its good for a month or so then goes noisy again. I've always had a different "rebound" feel on the left front than on the right front (I'm used to air cooled 911's and that would be a bad strut insert on those). I've tried to get the strut replaced but no dice. So I have a very noisy car in the parking lot. Pretty much all the time. Argh.

Thanks Peter. My car will make the strut noise sitting in park. Also hard left backing out drive and hard right entering parking garage. Both roads have a 3/4-1 inch lip and the left front pops/groans every time. On a 911, or my golf R, or my old 1M it would have been easily diagnosed as a strut and replaced. I'm kind of tired of dealing with.
I did get the "tire shudder" explanation and went ahead and swapped out for new Michelin's. Same noise and same "dunno" response. Not since my days of owning an early Saab 900 Turbo have I ran into a series of dealerships that are content saying "dunno" and then trying to fix it.
I'm in the market for a new coupe and based on the dealer feedback I'm not putting anything from MB on the list and I've owned 4 flawless AMG's over the years and 3 plain sedans.

New steering rack goes in. They test drive. They hear a noise . now they say a new strut is needed. On one side.
Well now I'll have one new strut and one old. That's not safe for the car now is it

They're claiming my noise is due to front brake caliper clips. They're ordering and installing new ones that are supposed to be "stronger".
We'll see how that works out...

At the dealer now. Still no concrete idea of the problem. They just swapping parts.
What's the best direction of contact info to escalate this with corporate.... I don't want to call generic numbers to get run around

2 weeks later, the ******* still havent figured it out.....i went in to test the car, the groaning noise is still prominent and loud....shop foreman rode with me. and agreed.
so far steering rack, new right struct and a ball joint have been replaced
i have begged them to check and try what my previous last yr service with the strut shims and ball bearings which remedied the problem back then
i just cant figure out why they are being so damn stubborn
back to my glc300 loaner

I just had something similar fixed on my 2014.
Here is how they diagnosed and then the parts used to fix:
"38239 Right front strut upper pivot bearing and mount test drive vehicle in parking lot, find when wheel is turned back and forth there is noise from right front, use the chassis ears and find noise coming from top of strut, follow LI32.25-P-051645, apply grease between upper mount and dust boot, find noise still present, remove right front strut, disassemble the strut and inspect, find the upper pivot bearing is not smooth and leaking grease, install new upper mount and pivot bearing, reassemble strut, install strut in vehicle with new bolts and nuts, find noise no longer present"
parts:
212-323-04-20 Support bearing
204-981-00-25 ball bearing
000000-003277 nut
002-990-45-03 screw w rnd. hexal. head
001-990-75-03 Screw
000000-008268 nut
000000-003276 nut
When I mentioned this issue to the service advisor it didn't take him long to track down this was a common and known issue specifically on the E63 model. I had the work done at Mercedes in Lakeland Florida.

Don't own these fat *****es out of warranty if you care about everything being nice and quiet
