^ So in a nutshell you are saying m157 is a terribly engineered engine in all aspects including both its hardware/software?

Why not consider an M with all its tuning potential fairbird?

about m157 it's not the car . it's great huge potential platform , but later .

Totally agree with Gaspam and Fairbird! I also know there are far faster cars out there that dont even post on forums etc. Coming from a gofast hobby in the GM LSX world, Mercedes is entirely different on every level. I've had a couple vettes, Cts-v's, Ol Fbody drag cars etc and those platforms are great for going fast either roll racing or dragstrip. Tuning is extremely accessible, either doing it yourself or paying $600 or so for a veteran to do it. 10 sec 130+ ¼ mile times are attainable within the first week of ownership. It seems that community of car nuts also shares a TON of information with each other with a common goal of going fast. Mercedes is quite the opposite from my experience. Everything is top secret even just information about changing stock parts out or where sensors are lol. If I wanted to go fast the easiest possible route it wouldn't be a Merc but enjoy the challenge.

PS Have a NIB Meth kit if anyone wants to buy it lol

Our community never used to be like this, at least when it came to hardware. We experimented with parts and always shared results and part numbers. It wasn't until the big tuning companies got involved that everything became a big secret. With that said I think the biggest part of the blame goes to MB for being such douchebags about software access. Actually, I shouldn't even limit that statement to software access. They are the same way when it comes to hardware access too. They cut our community off from buying many parts unless we could prove we owned the car the parts were made for! How idiotic is that!

just a theory, but i think MB getting stronger encryption is preemptive prevention of remote hacking like what happened to the jeeps especially with MB being close to coming out with driverless cars

i dont think we have seen a upgraded compressor wheel and turbine kits yet as that is what pureturbos upgrade is supposed to be but no results yet... other turbo upgrades out there are either completely new turbos (ams, weistec w4, renntech) or compressor wheel only (weistec W3) ....

edit: i think i remember powerhaus performance did a compressor/turbine upgrade but cant remember the HP results but i remember they made about 100whp more than they did on weistec w3 kit as they had that on their car before

Powerhaus E63 made 642whp on Mustang Dyno compared to Weistec W3 E63 with between 530 to 540whp, all of pump gas apparently.

I guess because this is probably more accurate of what really happens when both are just tuned normally on pump gas.

I see the e63s wagon has a rear diff ratio of 3.06 v 2.65 for the sedan. Anybody know if that helps it run faster on a roll or why they did that only if the wagon?

Man I feel for you...If you do not want to go the German turner route , have you tried renntech? I mean on of the fastest Es was running their setup at one point

I own benz almost year , the car is down for 6 month total , fun , some of it not tuners fault (I broke tranny output shaft) month was down , the rest is tuners , parts , etc .
I'm just going to put benz to stock, sell it , get R8 TT it and f@ck this .
after I'm giving it one more chance , since I still like the car

never thought about renntech , I called ams , $28000 for alpha 9 .. not for me . So I paid about that price and no car haha .

That's awful to hear. I really don't think I'll be dumping any money into my merc for mods unless the market changes drastically.
