2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Anybody here thought about about a 2017 E400 Wagon to replace their AMG?
I'm going to look at one in a couple weeks, the local dealer has a couple in port now coming in. It's a twin turbo V6. I know nothing like the power of my 2012 AMG E63 Wagon but a heck of a lot less money than it would be for a new AMG come the end of next summer and lot more tech gadgets with the $12,000.00 Tech package than my 2012 AMG has including the new self driving distrionic which is pretty cool, I don't think they will have the self parking feature though, at least the type that parks the car when your not in it . Dealer said they still don't know the sticker on the car but I'd think around 77 grand or so with the options I want similar to the E350 it's replacing, better performance than the outgoing E350 and a lot more torque, I read 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds, to bad, about a second slower than the E63 I have, with a tune it would get into the 4's and yet be around 8 or 9 better mpg's especially with the 9 speed automatic. The interior is beautiful. I'm not as much into speed as I use to be, I can't do a wide open throttle start with my significant other in the car, she'd freek out. I'm mostly with her in the car too. The car looks pretty much the same as the upcoming Amg will too. I think I'd get Lunar Blue with the Tan interior. It would be at least 33K less on the sticker price, I know, a lot less performance, but something I need to consider, I may still end up with a AMG at the end of next summer when they are available as I still have till 2019 on the extended MB warrantee I've got on my 2012. Love my 2012, I could even consider keeping it and hope the air suspension needs major repairs before the 2019 warrantee ends up expired so at least that expensive repair would be done under warrantee. Lot's to think about. I hope they are right about the self parking feature being available as this would be a big help to me as I use a wheelchair and if somebody blocked me in I could back the car out with my cell phone. https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/auto/2...wagon/preview/

is definitely a good looking car and much better than the current E350 - will it be the same engine as the C400? If so with a EC tune you would be looking at Power Gains - 392HP / 432TQ - i wonder what kind of things Weistec could do with this engine to make it a baby AMG or perhaps they bring a E43 Estate -
could be a viable replacement, but the AMG still has a special place in my heart -

Hell no keep the AMG. Before going full throttle just tell her to cover her eyes

I usually avoid first model year, especially cars as high tech as these. I personally would wait couple years and pick up a used E63S wagon.

lol just keep it forever or until the wheels fall off. I'm going to keep it until it needs major repairs and warranty is all out lol

Now that I've taken the depreciation hit, I'd never replace my AMG with the E400, but had it been available at the time, I would have considered getting the E400 to save money for an additional toy. The 350 was way too weak and soft for what I was looking for.

Interesting thoughts, the new E400 could be nice, it is comparable to the W210 E55 in terms of performance which is plenty/fun/enough in most driving situations.
It will be very efficient with the 9G as well.
Given it has no AMG suspension it will be more comfortable.
Compared to a used E63 the E400 still costs around 10-25k USD more (here in Europe) and I wouldn't buy a 1st-2nd year of production until most of the bugs are fixed so the W212 AMG still wins.
It is a close call though!

The wagon will arrive in the first quarter of 2017. European buyers get a full choice of four- and six-cylinder engines fueled by either gasoline or diesel. Not so in the States, where we’ll get the take-it-or-leave-it option of the E400 4MATIC model, powered by a twin-turbocharged V-6 with all-wheel drive. This 3.0-liter V-6 is rated at 329 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque and comes with Mercedes’ new nine-speed automatic transmission. We won’t get any rear-drive versions or diesels, and we’re also told that there aren’t any plans to bring the 396-hp Mercedes-AMG E43 version to the States. Mercedes-Benz USA cautions that this doesn’t rule out another AMG variant to arrive later. (E63, anyone?) E-class chief engineer Michael Kelz also told us that we’re likely to see an E300 version later, also with 4MATIC, with that model designation disguising the fact that Mercedes has downsized the 300’s engine to a turbocharged four-cylinder.

The 2018 E63 Amg wagon will come out at the end of this coming summer from what I heard. I've still yet to see any E400 Wagons at the dealers yet but know they got into the ports about a month ago or so. Should be hitting the dealers fairly soon, looks to be a nice car.

That original model year thing would be the deal breaker for me. I don't want to be first in line to guinea pig that tech package. Just look how annoying our blind spot assist is (WHY DOES IT CONSTANTLY BEEP AT ME)
That aside, I have a hard time stomaching the first few years of depreciation on any car with that kind of price tag.
