getting so damn tired of this car and its issues....now for past week ive got a knocking sound from front left suspension area....completely different from my previous groaning sound of the strut cap bearing i had previously documented

this is best heard at low speeds and just sounds like something is look and hitting something else....the drive and feel of the car seems normal

i dont know if this is something as a result of the dealer changing everything around a month a go when they were trying to sort out the issue

could it be tires...i have severe inner thread wear on my fronts which i will change befor e i heard to the dealer so they cant blame that...if its not the case.

Has the car been in any previous collision damage? Nasty potholes, etc?

You mentioned needing to change the front tires on an earlier post in this thread. Was that done before the workshop visit and did it help?

so my current Mich PSS have 26000 miles on them. the rears have 5/32 left, but the fronts were worn badly at the inner side......i had my old P0's in the shed from the fronts....they were still quite good at 18000 miles but the rears were bald so saved the fronts.....

so before going to dealer i decided to change the fronts to the old pirellis, first to make sure that it wasnt just a tire issue because of bad fronts with the PSS, and second to make sure the dealer doesnt say " hey u got worn tires, change them before we work on car, safety liability etc etc"

well after putting the pirelli back on the noise persisted, so that ruled out tires....

so they first did left lower steering knuckle joint replacement 2123300135 and tubular torsion bar 2183230465

according to their paperwork that didnt work, then they replaced front sway bar...

All the parts they changed I'm surprised the noise is still there, It must be something stupid there looking past, Is it a rattle sound or a knocking sound ? I know this is a long shot but did they check the spring tension on the front brake pads that can make a loose rattle sound if faulty ?

im not surprised.....its like should i goto another dealer instead....but i dont want to give them that satisfaction...

ill check on the pad...

its a knock....undulations or road markers will make it happen....its not as bad as it was when i first dropped it off, but even then it had progressively gotten worse...ill probably take it in next week....car still drives fine though....so it seems

Sounds like the sway bar linkage has gone out again. It will give that distinctive rattle over bumps and road imperfections.

I fought this battle for months....
and now I can't recall what the part number was that we replaced. Seemed to do the trick. The bushing at the end of it looked iffy, at only 29k miles.
Lemme find the PN and the description....

3 words: Left Front Strut

I had a knocking noise when hitting a speed bumps just right (not fast or anything). They replaced the strut and it was fixed. That was over a year ago now. Still fine.

You might want to check this.

Good luck.

Bushings
I had a clunking noise at low speeds. Mostly when turning left into parking spaces and reversing out of them in either direction. Took it to the dealership. They replaced the left front bushings on the control arms.

I've had this problem twice but both times it was separate issues. The first time it was a TSB for an upper (and lower IIRC) control arm and the second time it was both strut tops.

Hi mate, I think I've got the same problem. Only hear it at really low speeds or going or uneven surfaces.

Really hope its the sway bar linkage.

might just be loose. Get under it and try and move it up and down and see if it makes the noise.
