Resonator removal H vs X vs Straight
Guys I am looking to get the resonators removed, whats is the the difference between the x, H and straight pipe configurations?

Don't do straight, yea it's louder but not in a good way. Also being straight the two sides don't mix and balance anymore so the exhaust systems tends to shake the car. I also feel like it hurt the low end torque. Installed a H after driving around two days with straight pipes and am much happier, sounds much better, exhaust stopped shaking and the low end grunt returned.

Straight is loud and raspy, H tones down the straight pipe sound a little, X quiets things even more but still sounds louder than resonator at WOT.

Thanks for posting the vids I am going to do it.
is the connection something fabricated at the the shop or is it a pre fabricated piece that the shop installs after cutting resonator out?

M157 3" straight pipes, gives it a nice little extra bark when on it 👍 No need for an x-pipe.
Any good custom muffler shop should have 3" stainless steel piping in stock.

I went straight instead of the resonator but it sounded like a truck. The resonator has an internal H so I had the shop add one of the same size in the same place. Sounds great and just the right amount of moderately louder. Don't buy a prefab kit - a decent exhaust shop should be able to whip something simple up for less and you'll still have to pay them for the same labor.

I posted a thread a while back if you want to search for it. As long as you leave the stock mufflers in place you'll be ok. As RJStanford mentioned, straight pipes sound too much like an American truck to me but it was awesome on up/down shifts!

What size pipe is the exhaust? Magna flow sells a nice X pipe , I wonder how that sounds vs the H pipes

Thanks for posting , everyone says straight pipes are louder but that doesn't mean better , I don't want my car to sound like **** either , I'm glad the h pipe worked out for you.

FWIW, I think I ended up paying around $125 all-in for the work and materials. Definitely check with your local shop before buying something online.

I've got the straight pipes done with no cats and still retain the stock mufflers. It does have more "BArk" "Crackle" but seems to also have a unevenness about it that I can feel. I think I'll end up going X pipe just for the smoothness but maybe before that since its Cheap add a 1" cross pipe and see if that works.

Thanks for posting those, did you have any drone with the straight pipes while cruising at highway speeds?
