Dual ECU's what do you know?

I have been working on a dual ECU setup and am getting some conflicting information.

From what I understand, you can "clone" a second ecu to work on the car without a dealer.

However, one source told me that mileage information is stored in the ECU and could cause conflicts if you have to large a difference. IE you drove around 5k miles and swapped back the car would get angry.

Anyone currently running two? One for pump gas another for race? Maybe one "Stock" one "Tuned"

I snagged a E63 S ecu on Ebay, just wondering what the next play is?

TIA!

Quote: Mileage is stored in a couple of locations----however your suggestion is very interesting--when will the drive authorization shut the car down because of differences in mileage------try it, as it seem you have loads of time on your hands!!

PS: You of course have put the same VIN in both ECU's--correct!
Yes, duplicating the ECU with correct vin is no problem.

I am sure someone here is doing it. Just not alot coming up in the search function.

As for weistec, I really would like to use AMS as they are local to me. Would hate to bug another tuner when I would not be a customer.

Savage - am interested in this same question 2 ECU's (tuned/stock). you said you are local to AMS...u in Chicago? i have contacted AMS in chicago (West Chicago is where they are located) and they have not been very enthusiastic to answer some of my inquiry questions which compared to Eurocharged is never an issue.

Yea, I am up in Milwaukee. I talked to someone over there and they said sure they would tune and setup two ecus for one car. Problem was the mileage issue, it was suggested that I just flash back to stock if I wanted. They were pretty up front on the communication.

Yes you can use 2 different ECU. They can clone it. Hit up AMS since you are using them. I know a few tuners that do that so they can switch between tunes.
