Rear pads on 16 e63s wearing faster than front?
As the title says my rear pads seems to be wearing quite a bit faster than my fronts got about 27km on it which is 16.5k miles or so. What are the best alternatives and best bang for your buck for replacement pads when I do go abouts changing them? Also do I need to purchase the Mercedes "break wear indicator"? Don't need rotors from what I can tell.
Thanks

If you are interested in getting the best pads for your E63 in terms of performance and eliminating brake dust then the pads designed by Project Mu for RADO are the best choice. They are easy on the rotors, are great on the street, perform really well and eliminate the need to wipe your wheels down every other day.
Please send me a PM if you need a set, we have them in stock.

That said, I'm sticking to Genuine MB stuff as I know it works and am having a hard time navigating these threads with all the posts pushing product. When rotors are needed, I'll purchase Genuine MB and have them cryo treated to last twice as long.

Interesting..... so the traction control kicking in is wearing out rear brake pads, never thought of that but it makes sense....
Haven't had a lot of high power vehicles with traction control, will have to check that on our cars....

I was surprised as well. Apparently, the electronic nannies are working overtime and substantially increased brake wear is one of the side effects.

I did this with my CLK55 rotors when they needed replacement.
There is a race engineering and fabricating shop near me that can do this. The last set I had done at frozenrotors.com (factory rotors, cryo treated). For street use, these should hold up very well.

That was what the dealer explained to me also. Apparently the super-aggressive traction control in this car is using brake pads as a consumable resource. You'd think the engineers would have also made special pads with a longer life to compensate, but that would have made too much sense.

Years back, '08? My new 2007 SL55 needed rear brakes at 12k miles.
My service Rep asked me how "idrive" and told him around town I didn't race to lights and like to gently ease the brakes on to maintain a
consistant speed and time lights better.
He said, when opereating the brakes that way typically the rears will engage before the fronts leading to most of the wear on the back pads. With extreme light braking the fronts may not even engage.
Whether or not this is true I don't know as I've never been able to substantiate it but my next set of rears went twice as long using a little
firmer peddle and engine braking.
