How's the reliability out of warranty been?

I'm getting close to the end of warranty - thankfully no problems with the car. Making me think that spending $5200 for another 2 years of coverage might be a waste. Haven't seen any common problems on this forum, unless I'm missing something?

I'm also out b2b in December, I bought in to the elw 7/75k extended before the prices doubled

you would probably be wise to pocket that $5000 and keep it as a repair slush fund, chances are you'll never need to use the cash

call jeff jackson at Tafel motors for an elw quote if you do get one

Just had this conversation with a SA a couple days ago. He said that he typically recommends doing the warranty but given the prices on these AMG warranties, he was skeptical that it would be worth it. He said that large repair bills (~$3k+) were pretty rare and that if/when he did they were usually cars that hadn't been maintained properly. But, he also indicated that they didn't get many AMGs through.

At this point, I think I may just keep the money and hope for the best as I only put ~10k miles a year on it, do all the scheduled maintenance, and haven't had any problems with it yet.

Got my numbers from him:
6 year/75k $5253
6 year/100k $5683
7 year/75k $6328
7 year/100k $6758

Pretty sure I'm going to pocket the cash as a maintenance fund.

2010 E63
Dec 2016 I picked up a 2010 E63 with 37k mi. I also purchased a 3yr warranty from Safe-Guard Products International, LLC for $3k.

With this warranty I can have the car repaired anywhere I like. I've already had one throttle body replaced at the dealer. The repair bill was $3k and my warranty deductible was $250 so I would say the warranty is totally worth it! Still have 2.5 more years of coverage

Beware of the headbolts issue with that engine. If going without warranty, make sure you can stomach the repair bill or a new engine if a head ever pops off one of the 10 bolts.

I'm at 90k miles on my 2012 and other than routine maintenance costs, I haven't spent a dime on repairs. The only thing I had replaced under warranty was the faded wood trim. It's been utterly reliable.

2014 Wagon, out of warranty for over 3 years. Needed a 2" hose clamp as one of the main water hose couplers came off. The coolant tank was also leaking and replaced. Other than that, nothing to report. Close to 50k miles now.
Car sees a lot of high speed Autobahn duty, now with the long lasting lower lockdown traffic a lot of 170+ mph speeds are often possible.
Appropriate usage I'd say.
During the first 2 years of warranty I had the following components go bad:
Instrument cluster, both LED headlights, replacement of all water coolers and condenser with freon, new drivers door seal, oil cooler hose.
I hope I don't regret writing this, Murphy's Law is always on the hunt.
Ed
