Nationwide backorder on wheels?

So my wheel insurance is covering a curb and damaged wheel i have..

the dealer said that the 14-16 black e63 amg S wheel is on backroder from germany for another 3 weeks!

anybody know if this is true? I find this hard to believe!
My car will have to sit now until the new wheel comes in

Sorry to hear that. They could be. What does your dealer have to gain in a made up delay? Contact another dealership and ask about availability.

I waited 3 months until AMG shipped a new instrument cluster. Car was in the shop the whole time.

Did just this in the morning and it seems there isnt one black 10 spoke wheel in the USA!

Yea, i guess it isnt that bad and they put me in a new loaner, just surprised i would think these wheels would be available a bit more quickly or readily. Just a heads up to future owners i guess.

Benz has had a hard time fulfilling forged oem rims on brand new amg cars ... many threads on this...

i agree ... how can they not allocate enough wheels

Maybe because each one costs $2-3k per wheel. No many takers even as a spare/replacement part.

A pothole wrecked my front and rear 10 spoke non-forged black rims a while back. They were $1400 and $1600 (not respectively) if I remember correctly. Either the front or rear had 3 in stock in the US and came in quickly with 2 day shipping. Supposedly the other had to be shipped from Germany, they told me, but it only took a few more business days.

I waited 2 months for a cat assembly for my 2011 and because the knuckleheads didn't assume the obvious, that the muffler assemblies were also suspect, I had to wait another 3 months for muffler assemblies when they discovered they were fried too. Basically, it looks like a lot of MB parts are manufactured as needed rather than carrying warehousing overhead. So this does not surprise me at all. 3 weeks isn't awful.

3 months IS !!

plus for three weeks you get to beat on someone else's loaner in the winter versus your own car

Guys, just bumping this. I have a full set of E63S wheels for sale, as well as a mismatched pair of the rare 19x10 CLS63 wheels for you wanting a wider rear track. 6 total wheels.

I had to wait about 2.5 months for a replacement wheel from Germany - I have the 19" forged wheels though.
