"Hood Open" Warning at 60+mph
I recently replaced the AC Compressor at my friends shop. We have to take of the front pumper and electronic fan to be able to take out the old compressor and install the new one. It took us 4 hours. Nothing tricky. However, after we got the AC Compressor replaced, I got this wired "Hood Open" warning when I reach a speed of about 60mph. if I slow down to 40mph, it disappears. Anyone have any idea how to fix it? Reapply appreciated.

The sensor is rising with the air speed at 60mph
can you tighten it down

These can be faulty at times

wow ... that will be very annoying should I just replace both of the hood sensors? I just fund that even I do not have the driver side sensor connected, I do not get any warning message, until I am over 60mph. However, if I disconnect the sensor on the passenger side, I will get the hood open warning right after I starting moving at 2-3 mph. It seems like the one on the driver side is just been useless or not connect to the computer at all.
to my observation so far, it is the air pressure in the engine bay triggers the "Hood Open" warning message. I do not see any visible or noticeable hood movement at high speed. It was still at closed position at 60+ mph. The hood sensor should not be triggered by such a engine bay pressure increase. I could not put all the clue together. It is just so wired.

This may not be as easy as a sensor replacement with your latest description

I would recommend you re-trace your steps when you replaced the compressor. I suspect you inadvertently jarred the hood sensor a bit out of position. Way too coincidental that it came on after the compressor replacement job.

Thanks a lot to everyone's input!
The mysterious problem has been resolved mysteriously! My friend who operates a repair shop applied some penetration oil on both hood latches. After that, no warning message anymore. no explanation, what so ever! have a good night. Hopefully this can be helpful to anyone who has a similar issue.

If you don't slam the hood down hard, it'll give a warning to me immediately that it's open, but you can also just press each side of the hood down and make sure it latches
glad it's fixed

By the way, left the dealership one day and had that come on in the rain and the wipers will be intermittent and stop until you get out and close the hood. It was a little scary with no wipers. I made it back to the dealership and they confirmed, hood warning, no wipers..........

If not this, I have no idea why the wipers would get locked out due to the hood.

Theres actually a specific way you are supposed to close the hood. The owner manual has the instructions where it says to properly close it you are supposed to use decent force from a certain distance where you let it drop from there, i forget the exact details.

I will try this next time I got my hood open... minus the "push" he did at the end there

Yep, drop it with a bit of force, dont be afraid. This will ensure that it clips into the hood locks on both sides.
