Transmission issues. Park not engaging, and surge at full stops.

Hey everyone.
I've got CLS63, but this forum gets more traffic and the transmissions are the same, so here goes.

I just got a used CLS63 (70K) and I've noticed that when I am in S+ or M and stop at a light, it stops fine, then there is an immediate small surge like I'm pressing the gas. I've actually had the surge happen bad enough once that the car stalled.
Anyone ever experience this? I think there might be a tune on the car because the people at the dealership said "this feels quicker than stock" - are there any known tunes that might cause this?

Second issue: sometimes the Park button does nothing! I'll have to put it in neutral and then turn the car off and open the door for the car to go into park. maybe a short in the button?

never experienced the 1st. the 2nd episode happens from time to time. im assuming its the button but it happens so infrequently...and i can work around it with the remedy you mentioned....i've never really been pressed to get it fixed. i dont even put it in neutral. i just hold the brake and turn the car off/open the door.

I would:

-full trans oil change with filter
-depending on mechanic skill set, check the solenoids filters for debris

If that doesn't help:

-Full trans adaptation of clutch, gears, etc via STAR benz computer.

For your second issue this part could be going bad.
Id look in to replacing it.

great everyone!
Thanks for the info. I like to be educated on what the possibilities are.
I'm definitely going to find out if there is a tune on it first just to eliminate it as a possibility that its feeding a splash of gas or something. plus I don't like the idea of an unknown tune on my car.

The first issue is very disturbing depending on how often this happens. Usually a sign of a cylinder letting go. Happened to two W212 E63s I know of (mine was one of them). Eventually, cylinder #5 let go
You do have a tune....do a compression test!!!

ok, I can do that.
I actually have a compression tester for my old motorcycle.
How would I get the CLS to not start so I can measure compression?

Had exactly the same #2 issue and had this automatic gear shift module replaced.

i have not personally done this but you should be able to remove the fuel pump relay, its for the pump that feeds fuel from the tank to cam actuated fuel pumps.
