I have a prime suspect matching all account on this thread: the AOP.
ALT clutch pulley
ALT clutch pulley

Inspect with a mirror if your engine is so equipped.

Whats your current mileage..?

A way out of this...
Upgrade to a plain regular pulley (or swap new ALT**) + new tensioner + idlers + serpentine.

The key item being the new tensioner: it's responsible of dishing out all belt troubles.

**: new ALT has fresh regulator brushes.
Cut off mileage to swap/keep ~ 50kMi.

Then you have to deal with looking for a replacement or both seller and buyer remorse, unless you have already have a replacement... Then you deal with regrets of selling, been there done that.

The regret is there but I'd probably regret it even more holding onto it past warranty. MB will put out another E series one day that catches my eye.

Agreed, MB has gone on a route that I don't dig at all. look at the EQ series bull****, look at the W214 and W223.
