Whine Noise after reving??
I have a 2016 e63s that has a whine after reving, I don't think its normal but Ive heard it on other e63s. Today I ran across a video with the same exact whine after rev. Does anyone know where it comes from?
Heres the link to the video
Drives me nuts and worries me a little. But I get past it knowing I have an intact warranty. Without that I’d be driving myself crazy tracing that bad boy down.
no after he lets off the throttle you can hear a sound that slowly winds down as the rpm goes down. Sounds like power steering pump winding down, or the pulleys .. the main portion is to listen after he lets off the throttle

I tried to track the sound down and I have no idea. What year your is your e63? as longs as others experience it I guess I shouldn't be too worried.
here is video of mine, I’m guessing some accessories are electrically driven and ramp up and down based on RPM. Annoying for sure.

at first I thought it was the turbo going bad but realized it wasn't .. other things I can think of is its coming from the trans?? Im going to do a test and switch in neutral and try it to see if it still comes up.

Bad turbo noises are closer to a dentist drill sound where you can hear the whistle mixed with a slight grind.
This all being said, you could make sure to look for turbo related oil leaks and any oil based smoke upon startup and acceleration. A bad turbo is very noticeable when it happens.

Coolant pump, alternator and idler puller appear to be on that side? If related to the tranny, I hope to get a full flush done in the next few weeks and we’ll see if that helps.

These days you’re lucky if you could slip a dollar bill between parts. Me thinks manufacturers intentionally do this to kill the shade tree mechanic and pump up service department revenue!
replacing the alternator on this car is a mission. WIS says rad fan needs to be removed and coolant lines need to be removed, then the rack n pinion needs to be detached and lowered. Its not an easy task. If it is the alternator its not worth replacing just for the noise it makes.

I once worked with a Cambodian guy that grew up in some remote jungle far away from civilization. He said he used to prank his villagers by smearing poop on the leaves of low-hanging branches along popular trails. At the end of a walk through the jungle all these guys would complain that their foreheads smelled like sh*t.
That’s funny no matter where you come from.

my best friend is a master Mercedes tech and has informed me this is normal due to the design of the pulley system within the 63's both n/a and turbo. nothing to worry about
hope this helps...
cheers!
