I deleted my resonator - Best choice ever!

Took my 2012 e63 5.5 biturbo to an exhaust shop I've known and trusted for years to delete the resonator. I opted for straight pipes to maximize sound since I know I'm keeping the stock mufflers and cats(at least for now). The car now has some extra volume, especially in the higher RPM but no drone and remains perfectly comfortable inside. I feel like it's a perfect balance to what AMG is.

Short video of a 2-3 pull.

https://youtu.be/6sXbeIRUWCQ

Enjoy, I sure am. 😎

To each their own I guess, but I don't think it sounds good in the video.

Been wanting to do this for a while. But I still can't decide between an x and h-pipe.

It's not for everyone. I wanted a more aggressive sound without being annoying and that's exactly what it is. Perhaps in the future I'll delete the cats and have some more volume, but for now I'm perfectly happy with this.

Where did you purchase a pre-made H-Pipe or did your shop custom build it for you? Thanks

This. I'd hate to be the OP's neighbor, knowing he'll likely WOT everywhere to sing the song of his people.

Worst thing is, doesn't really sound that amazing. Just, louder.

LOL, every other post in every AMG thread seems to be about exhaust, deletes, downpipes etc. etc. etc. but this may be first time I've ever seen complaints and haters!

I have seen no haters here. Some folks are simply not prepared to join the jubilation of noise pollution and celebration of minimal/no performance benefit.

"Annoying" is relative. To me the stock system is plenty loud. Plus I like my neighbors/neighborhood so I'm returning the favor.

That's my words and my view..Hate is the opposite of Love. I see some with no love for this delete so that's my opinion.

Hah, I love when people use "haters" when someone disagrees with them. Such a lazy and adolescent remark.

Side note, this is one of the first threads where you can hear the mod as, more or less, a bystander. Most videos show from behind the car or WOT away from the camera or towards.

2016 E63 Wagon
Hmm, I did the same resonator delete, replaced with H pipe and 1.5" (I believe) center pipe (there is a thread here somewhere where the different sizes are discussed). Frankly, the difference is quite minor. Maybe because i have a wagon with additional resonators as well as '16 car?
The difference is subtle enough that my wife couldn't even hear the difference. Nothing like "waking up the neighbours" loud - at all. At least not more than the stock exhaust...
Actually, maybe the OP has the "real" 6.3 (non turbo) engine?

I didn't say anything directly to you. Calling me names must mean you often get call a Hater since you took offense. AngryScotsman and HaterScotsman kinda interchangeable wouldn't you think.

Too many to list
I like it! No hater here, as I have a catless dp on my ML and it wakes up the neighbors every morning. And I like to rev 'vroom vroom' often too. But hey, I got 3 neighbors who owns Harleys and theirs are 10x louder than mine. So if anyone complains, those Harley owners should get the blunt force first before me.

I remarked on your lazy "hater" comment, regardless of who you directed it towards - because it's a thoughtless label to use.

Oddly enough, it's weird that you're so quick to see it as a personal attack. I did not call you a name nor pass judgment on you in my comment ("Such a lazy and adolescent remark").
I don't get called "hater" a lot because I don't spend my time around children and pubescent teens.

I've gone catless and 3" straight thru(no resonators) with 3 chamber(flowmaster-ish) mufflers. Cold start was VERY loud, so I had it coded out. No more waking the neighbors at 5am!

AMG E63 M156 W212 6.2l
ive just had my m156 E63 straight pipes and its having long tube catless headers fitted in the next couple of weeks and remapped. Personally i love the sound, obviously not everyone does and you see some people jump out of their skin in car parks when she starts up, but with the overburble remap it has on it currently also, its exactly what i wanted it to sound like, not to annoy people, but because she has a big old 6.3l V8 and i want her to sound like that, it really has the old american muscle car sound to it now.
