Must Have Options for 2014/2015 E63S

Hi All,

I'm in the market for a 2014/2015 E63S. As much as I want the wagon, my budget will probably drive me towards the sedan. Just curious if there are any options or packages from those years that are a must have for either better resale, or purely for daily enjoyment (from your perspective). From my research it seems like people prefer the carbon fiber trim, ight styling, bang & olufsen if you can get it, and the driver assistance package. Please let me know if there is anything that is a must have, in your opinion. Thanks in Advance.

For a used car, I'd focus more on the car in general and the owner/s, which is what would dictate how the car's going to be in the future. The main option I won't compromise would be the designation "S"..

Well, It took me over 6 months searching for a local one that I wanted. I agreed with Faast......focus on the history of the car and the owner.

e63 wagon 2014
There is no must haves for this generation I would say, but depends on your intentions.

Must have for high resale
-carbon interior-carbon exterior
-upgraded sound system
-dEsigno paint (matte grey or white diamond white)
-red or brown designo interior
-star wheels

Maybe?
-ccbs - really deoends on use of car
-adaptoce cruise control
-entertainmenr system

I got a 2015 e63s wagon designo diamond white metallic and designo brown interior with upgraded sound system and all pckages BUT carbon fiber star wheels and ccbs for 55k. I looked for a bit and this deal for clean no accident was too good. Ingot very lucky and more will pop up be patient there are a lot of bad buys here

I recently acquired an SL63 that doesn't have the front camera and now realize how much I use the one on my wife's E63s Estate. At least the SL is shorter and doesn't stick out of the parking space when I park too far from the curb in front of the car. These cars ride so low you can't risk hitting a curb!

I would say it would have to be an S model. And after having a car with carbon ceramic brakes, I can't imagine getting another without them. I might be in the minority preferring black ash trim over carbon inside. If you can find the exterior night black trim package, huge bonus!

2016 E63 Wagon
To the OP.

For resale I think the four most important ones are:

Wagon
2016 (due to the (much) improved Command system - including Carplay)
Carbon fiber interior
Night or Carbon exterior package.

I thought CarPlay wasn't introduced until 2017?

Carplay would be the last item on my list of things to care about when purchasing any car.

Yes, but the system in the 2016 cars (which is much more "modern" look and feel) does support it. Search for Vlad ODB module and you'll find lots of info.
And the GUI is so much more modern the car feels much newer than a 14/15 car.

Op asked for options that drive resale value. Carplay/Android is one of those.
Your opinion is yours but not shared with the majority of people out there today.

For me - key driver is to run Waze on the screen and see speed traps easier than having to look down...

Just one mans opinion:

Must have - S model, 2016 updated Comand, parking assist (for the birds eye camera), pano tilt sunroof

Could do without - carbon fiber exterior and interior. These were $10k on the original build and while it looks cool, not sure if worth the $$. At depreciated values maybe it only adds a few thousand to the price

Wish I had - upgraded sound, heater steering wheel (not sure if they offered)

A clean carfax should go without saying BUT I did buy a car that had a blemish i.e. “damage reported”. By all accounts it was minor so sometimes your dream unicorn comes with a bent horn.

Have all the above options. The birds eye camera quality is terrible but gets the job done.
Do agree a heated steering wheel would be nice. Esp since the E63 is the winter car.

I use WAZE daily, so would not mind that option for Car Play or preferably Android Auto, but not a deal breaker.

The S package is what I have and would want if looking.

I have Distronic on my GLE63 but not on my E63. IMO the Distronic is good for road trips. Don't miss it on the E63. Rarely use it on the GLE63 because hardly any road trips.

I have Multi-Contoured/Massage driver seat on E63 and wish I also had on GLE63.

On the shoulder
The two options I was looking for the most were the B&O sound and the CCBs. I figured if the car had those options, it would be fairly loaded otherwise (which ended up being true). Eventually compromised to only B&O as a must have, and CCBs as a nice to have because I couldn't find any cars with both options in good condition/history. I figured I could add CCBs to a car easier than adding B&O. Happy with my final purchase, but it took a long, long time to find. There are a lot of cars out there that look nice in the pictures, but have questionable history. There are a lot of cars being brought down from Canada also for some reason. The only reason I mention this is that the US Carfax won't pick up all of the information from Canada - it picks up some. So, be sure to pull the Carfax or whatever competitor from Canada as well.

I got to say I love my Carbon Fiber Edition package and BO sound system. Definitely worth it.
