I was just looking for the R1 likely.
I would prefer a local dyno tune. That way I can make sure they get it right before I leave ha. Be to my knowledge, there aren't any here

C450 AMG
I am new to the mbworld.org forums. Just purchased a C450 AMG and wanted to give it an "Upgrade". BUT after reading the not so good outcome from trying to get more power and issues that have been created, now I'm a little hesitant. Don't want to lose my warranty either. I did speak to Case? at Eurocharged who was very polite and helpful. He even said to check out the forum and see what the conversations are regarding them and ECU upgrades. I'm in Az and spoke to GoodSpeed in Scottsdale who recommended Weistec especially for MB. The power gains on paper as advertised were much greater with Eurocharged and at a lesser price point.

The comparison was approx 428 hp and 521 tq from Weistec flash for $2100, ouch!
Eurocharged was approx 480 hp and 528 tq for $1299 + $399 for handheld device. Better deal but??????

Had a 2018 M4 with VR tune from Vivid Racing and that did not work well. Power gain was very obvious but had issues shutting down at high speeds, Limp Mode if that is what it's called. Got rid of car so never really got to enjoy as much as I would have liked. It was Violent when you got on it at the right time.

Had an XKR modified with ECU, Pulley and exhaust work done. No issues ever.

So would like to get feedback on the C450.
Thank you

So I'm just going to re-share my experience in this thread with hope it will give one more clue to the folks that are having challenges with tunes.
car; 2016 E63 AMG s (awd) -- Stage 2 Eurocharged tune..
I had consistent challenges with misfires and at times jerky/violent shifting or stutter shifting .. but main focus were misfire. I went through:
1) Try 2 different tunes - full and 10% pulled back - several trips to dealer to check injectors, coils, plugs -- kept saying all need replaced -- compression, ash count etc. all good.
2) Replaced camshaft solenoids/sensors -- learned oil in wiring harness needs to be a routine maintenance on this car - especially top left camshaft sensor..
3) Put in a set of plugs NGKs 97506
4) Gas quality (adding 2.5 gal of 100) -- helped misfire caused a lot of knock.
5) Learned indexing is important - put in new OEM Bocsh newer version .0022
6) Replace all coils
7) Got pissed off - emailed Jerry, he had a technician contact me --Shawn(sp?) recommended getting TCU/ECU software updates at the dealer
8) Flashed back to stock - Paid $250 - updated TCU and ECU software, resent image and re-applied tune
9) Problem seems to be solved

I was hesitant after reading through this, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. I went by EC in Cincinnati this morning and Matt installed the Stage 2 ECU tune on my newly acquired 2014 CLS 63 AMG S. He test drove it and so did I. There were no shifting issues that I can tell. It shifts hard, but exactly how I expert it to at WOT. I have put about 150 miles on it so far today, and no lights, or any issues that I can tell. I did the 1 hour drive back up from Cincy on I-75, some slow driving on base, trip to the golf course, then 45 mins of backroads driving to get home. Completely different car now. This is exactly what I wanted. I will keep an eye on it and let everyone know if I have any issues.

On a side note, Matt was great. Very knowledgeable about the car, and even started up his personal M5 so I could hear what catless sounded and smelled like in real life. That will probably be my next change. All in all a great experience, and I am very happy so far.

Great to hear man and glad this thread popped up for me again. I've been smooth (fast) sailing since that last update with zero issues.

Sorry for the late response. TCU was tuned on site, ECU was tuned remotely using data logging via HP scanners and software.

Since it has been raining in Ohio since I got it...... only a couple of pics. I have already done the EC Stage 2 as you know, UPD air filter spacers and filters, Android 10.25 inch head unit installed, and H&R wheel spacers (20mm rear and 15mm front). Thinking about lowering it a touch soon. Need to rip off front clear bra that is peeling a little. I don't like them anyway. Will probably end up with Black Boost sir intake since I hate how the UPD setup raises the carbon fiber panel above the ECU. ECU tune was the priority and I am very happy with it so far.

Happy to hear that the TCU flash fixed it for you. I actually talked to Matt about your issue while I was there. Luckily mine was fresh flashed before purchase, at least from what I was told...... fingers crossed.

The blackboost has the same issue of raising that panel above the ecu. Had to use spacers from mcmasters carr to fix the issue.

FRONT - Male-Female Threaded Hex Standoff 18-8 Stainless Steel, 13 mm Hex Size, 12 mm Long, M6 x 1.00 mm Thread Size 93655A253 2 each
REAR - Male-Female Threaded Hex Standoff 18-8 Stainless Steel, 13 mm Hex Size, 25 mm Long, M6 x 1.00 mm Thread Size 93655A257 2 each

You need two of the short ones and two of the long ones from what I saw in the other post. Short ones for the front of the ECU and long ones for the rear. I was not able to find them anywhere but the McMaster-Carr website. And I looked for a while. Price is not too bad. Less than what I spend on beer at the golf course.

I should caveat that with I have ORDERD the spacers. I have not received them to install yet.... so I can't verify fit until that time. Hopefully I will get them this week.

This the answer I got from a friend who owns a shop that sells ecu and tcu tunes for our cars.
Sorry to necro this thread, but will basically any Star diag tool work for resetting TCU adaptations and/or updating firmware on our cars? I'm referring to ones like these, on eBay/Amazon, etc.

For the price that a dealer would charge, it almost makes more sense to just buy the tool and figure out how to do it ourselves, y'know?

I had the same problem. Was mostly resolved by my EDOK TCU tune.

E550 Coupe 2wd (2016)
I tuned my E550 using HP Tuners and it did similar, sorta. Basically, when I'd floor it, it would often feel as the op described; massive power drop throwing you fwd like hitting the brakes, then it takes off. It was spark timing. It would go 20 deg or so negative for a split sec. Not sure why but theres a table for min spark in there that allows this. So I put zeros in each cell of said table, instead of the neg #'s, now it only drops timing to 0. Problem solved. Lots of other people using HP said the same retard happens. Perhaps the more power requested, the more retard? I dunno, but fyi.
Point being, see if timing is the cause.

Too bad. Never got mine resolved. $1200 and used it for a few days. Was a downgrade. Crappy shift and car wasn’t faster. First few 91 octane tunes could hear it knocking very clearly. Not good.

I believe so. No mods to car. Well I did filters. Wasn’t happy to hear it knocking first two 91 octane tunes ……. Shouldnt happen. If you can hear it it’s way too advanced for boost level.

biggest issue was the shifting problem OP described. Tried it at the track and was slower with tune and crappy shifting on 2-3. Wasted $1200. Never tried to get money back but I should have. Tried atleast 5 tunes. All the same result. ☹️

My E63s with EC stage1 didn't run at all on track (trans dropped to neutral until car restart multiple times, see https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...nsmission.html). Tune seems to work otherwise in daily driving/occasional sprinting.
