Rear sunshade off track

I just got my 2016 e63s. Went to push the rear sunshade and the power works and it goes up and down. Problem is that it is not in the tracks so it just sits on rear deck. Any idea how to repair? Where to at least start?

Yes. I see both left and right side cables...they are not in the plastic tracks along the sides, but I see them move when the rear sunshade button is pushed

The track is part of the C pillar trim. You'll have to pop those panels loose and try to get it back in. I just replaced my whole sunshade assembly, it's really not too bad of a job
You won't need to do half that stuff though if you're not completely R&Ring. Also if you have the folddown seats you don't need to remove them, only fold down the tops. Hopefully this helps.

Let me know if you want the procedures from WIS, and I'll post.

what’s required to put it back on track w/o replacing the assembly?

To get it back on the track you just need to pop the C pillar trim loose (after some other steps) and guide it back in while putting the trim back on. It's more likely that it broke right there though instead of popped out of the track. That's what happened to mine at least.
