Check Engine - Misfire
About two months ago I noticed a slight misfire at cold start up but would clear up when warm.
On Sunday, the Check Engine light appeared so I assume that it's related to the misfire. I will have it scanned but here are my thoughts...
1) My daily driver, 95% of driving is in manual shift mode, run hard whenever possible.
2) It has always used a lot of engine oil (for the turbos), but always burns clean, no smoke, no leaks.
3) 95k miles on the original plugs, so one or more have begun to foul?
4) Ignition coil(s) or plug wire(s) are failing?
5) Pushed a head gasket (though not using coolant)?
My guess...fouled plugs. What say you???

I just removed the engine cover and air cleaner boxes to access the job of replacing the plugs and coils. The mechanical work needed is beyond my knowledge and ability.
I predict a costly repair bill in my future...

anyways, 2012 car with almost 80grand miles... never had misfire...yet. I think i did plugs not coils at 60000
never drive in manual mode...usually S plus in sport but i have been turning esc off too...otherwise its in C for around town
I just need it to start and stop with out issue as its my almost daily. Still no tune...no need
The check engine light is now off, no engine misfires detected, and it runs very strong again. Obviously, a combustion engine needs a lot of air to run properly, especially the m157. I spent $50 for two air filters and fixed a misfire problem. I was prepared to spend $1,036 on parts alone, and possibly $1,836+ at the MB dealer. I did not have it scanned so that may have identified the air filters as the problem, but I'm not sure if that is a detectable error. Anyway, a very interesting lesson for me...
Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions, very much appreciated! You guys saved my a lot of cash...

Not to mention the old coils are super skinny and are pretty flimsy compared to the new revision ones they have.
