Are these pretty straightforward once charge piping is out of the way? Any special things to know? Luckily the easiest one to get to is leaking a small amount. Figured to do them as needed. Caught this during an oil change.
Is there a trick to removing the connector plugs? I pulled back the white tab and it easily pops right back, but the connector head barely moves when firmly pulled. Tried on another solenoid and had the same problem.
Replaced the four CP sensors yesterday no problem, but that connector is not the same as the solenoids.
Gotta use a dental pick like instrument - I actually use a dental pick - to sneak under the cuff of the plug to depress a redundant little clip and then it pops off nicely

Thanks Peter, that worked, all four connectors popped off with the help of an angled pick tool.
Two of the solenoid connectors had a tiny spec of oil visible and the other two were bone dry. Added the sacrificial harnesses to all four and will keep an eye on them for any sign of leakage.... The four camshaft position sensors I replaced yesterday were drenched in oil. Next job is to check the ECU pins and connectors.
Saw your reply but hadn't got around to checking the harness at the time - have since checked and yes there was oil evident on the ECU plug (the larger of the two) and pins. Removed oil with contact cleaner and compressed air etc.
I just checked one of the solenoid connectors (connected via sacrificial harness) and it was bone dry after 1000 miles since installation.
Still haven't figured out the trick to easily removing the connectors, lifting up that small black tab underneath with an angled pick is not enough to get the plug off, I spent 20 minutes getting the first one off but am clueless what I actually did to get it to pop off. Spent another 20 minutes attempting the second one but no luck, black tab all the way up but still won't budge, will try again another day.
