2011 E63 Longtube headers build

@01 Last spring I was able to buy my dream car a 2011 E63 AMG. After months of blissful ownership, I have become power-hungry and want to start building this car. My research has led me to the understanding that long tube headers and a tune are a great place to start along with row airboxes. Looking to see if anyone out there knows what the most productive and affordable steps are to making this car faster otherwise. I also am not sure where my most affordable option for long tube headers would be. I’ve even heard that possibly SS headers can fit this car, I don’t know if that’s true or a good idea at all. I’ve looked at most of the main brands for making long tube headers like MBH and VRP, but I am interested in finding something a bit more affordable if possible. Any help would be much appreciated!

On my recently acquired 2010 E63 I've done ROW airboxes with AFE Pro Dry filters, ECU remap by OE Tuning and Sprint Booster device. The car feels much more responsive now and pulls extremely hard. I'll probably keep the stock headers on this vehicle as it's already a rocket and I don't want to risk problems. Had Eurocharged midlengths installed on my E500 and while the power gains were nice the car eventually developed a few issues. Whether or not they were related to the headers I'll probably never know. I also think the stock AMG exhaust system sounds just about perfect on these NA 63s. Enjoy your ride.

Not going to find many options in terms of headers for a m156 e63 outside of VRP and MBH. And if you do i'm quite positive it won't be cheaper.

You can do tune on the m156 for now, but there's not much power left on the table with just a tune on the e63 with the m156 motor maybe 35hp at best.

There’s a pretty steep price:performance curve.

Easy stuff: Tune, Air Filters, maybe ROW boxes (lots of debate as their effectiveness).
Medium stuff: Long tube headers, mid-pipe or full exhaust system, e85 tuning, injectors
Hard stuff: Supercharger, bigger injectors, increased fuel delivery system.
Really hard stuff: Gotta start taking the engine apart to upgrade internals.

How much do you want to spend?

I decided to stop at the medium stuff.

Thanks for all the suggestions, any recommendations for running a wet nitrous kit and a tune? I hear the 6.3 does well with nitrous and maybe a more cost-effective way for significant power gains...

what's your end goal, and what is your budget?

Personally, I'm not a fan of nitrous on an engine and I'd recommend to start looking at a supercharger setup if you want to get serious about big power out of the m156.

Budget is probably around 5-6k, also wondering if it's possible to fit a supercharger from an e55 onto this engine or any supercharger cheaper than the weistec setup. Basically looking for the most power for my money with still a sense of reliability in mind.

Honestly I'd just do a tune and ROW airboxes with some BMC filters and call it a day to be honest.

An E55 blower won't fit on this car and a weistec system isn't cheap even though I see them pop up for sale every now and then within your budget.

I'd do the tune/ROW airboxes/BMC filters for now and just wait for a weistec blower to pop up in the used classified for now.

Great advice The1stWright, only thing I would add is Sprint Booster device, really helps with throttle lag, even after a tune.
