I think my E63 is tuned. Any easy way of telling?
Hi all. Newbie to the Mercedes game here. Sold my Lexus GS F and picked up a 2014 E63 from a dealer auction. After I received it, I realized that something had been done to it performance wise. My suspicion arose from when I started it. It is: a) louder than what I anticipated b)has a strong exhaust smell. So I looked underneath and found that the cats have been deleted. Vehicle doesn't show a check engine light, yet the o2 sensors are still present. So my understanding is that for the light to not go off, previous owner would have had to put a tune on the ECU correct? Lastly, the OBD port cover was hanging open. I don't have another E63 to compare mine with nor have I put it on the dyno. I've emailed eurocharged, weistec, and renntech with my VIN number. Renntech said they didn't have the vin file, eurocharged told me they don't have a way to check by vin, and have yet to receive a reply from weistec. The vehicle is from Concord, CA so it's possible that the previous owner took it to German Autotech Inc out of Walnut Creek, CA. Anyways, any help is appreciated. Maybe the last owner is a member here?

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
Any tuner can pull the ecu data and compare against a stock ecu data file they have
also email AMS in west chicago, Illinois with the vin
check the screws on the ecu housing itself and look for any drill marks; you're correct that the o2 sensor issue is dialed out in the ecu with custom tune
but hey - how does it drive and perform? Have you check for codes/dtc's?

Ya I'll get to that eventually. But that won't tell me who the tune came from, so that's what I'm trying to find out. Might end up doing some facebook stalking for the previous owner, they left their phone connected to the car.

I actually bought a car out of state (bad experience but I won’t go into that here) and found the previous owner and messaged him for any mods he did since it had muffler delete, aftermarket wheels and chrome delete.
he never responded but I was hoping it had a tune as well. I ended up taking to a local mb shop and they confirmed it had a stock tune.

German Autotech deals with Eurocharged so that would be who it's tuned by if it is.
Which WC dealer did you get the car from? I'm from the area and know both of the major dealers here so I can ask.

ETA, located the previous owner. According to his social media post, vehicle has 790hp to the crank. Awaiting his reply on who’s tune it actually has. Only one that I can think of that can put out those kind of numbers is Renntech’s R3. But I don’t see $22k worth of mods in the engine bay. So may have been removed. Guess we’ll find out!

E63 AMS 100 octane tune with black boost intakes and tcu tune ... tune cost me a whopping $900, intakes $1200, tcu tune $1500
its no R3 but it still gets me down the 1/4 in mid 10's

super smooth shifts and easy drivability... feels all OEM quality in terms of the drive ... throttle tip in much better and launching is spectacular pulling 2.6's 0-60 per dragy (with 60ft rollout)
@jvakos has the same 100 tune as me and intakes (his graph superimposed on my dyno graph) and he's pulling 10.4 1/4's in cold weather (40F)
Jvakos and peterubers; only difference in cars is mine is 2014 his is 2015 and his has colder plugs gapped narrow mine are stock plugs gapped stock

@PeterUbers
Thanks for sharing.
Is the 546 hp 598 tq dyno curve the OEM tune or another tune?
Stock exhaust? Cats etc?
Did you have to send in your ECU? or is there an OBD tuning option?
I don't think the TCU tune will change the dyno curves, but correct me if I am wrong. Too bad you don't have some runs with the BB intakes.
Again, thanks for posting the 93 octane runs. No e85 here, so only able to run 93 or 94 (limited stations).
