it was me who got them. For that price I figured I could be patient for a front. There’s one that just popped up on eBay today for $1500 for a single front….which is crazy. I have a few more angles I’m working before I commit to that one.
But I got them for $750 delivered and I have no idea how he managed the shipping…but they are in great shape.
The story he gave me is he purchased a full set to get a front for his car that had been in a wreck. So he was selling the three he didn’t need. Doesn’t make sense to me, but he was a nice enough guy that shipped quick and were already in boxes from when he received them.
I'm glad the wheels went to a forum member. That seller sounds awesome. Happy for you that it all worked out so well. I'm sure your patience will be rewarded in finding one more front. Even if you have to pay up a bit the overall price for the set will still be great.
You might have done this already, but before you mount rubber on them I'd definitely take them to the best wheel repair shop you can find in your area (i.e. one where you can walk in and see they've invested in all the machines needed to do the job correctly) and have them spin each wheel to ensure it's round and true. I bought a nice take-off set of four E63 black ten-spokes last year and had this done (for free, while I watched). Two needed a bit of straightening, which the shop did for not too much money. Then I had them mount and balance four new tires. After replacing rotors/pads and of course a left lower control arm (!) I mounted the new wheels and drove to the MB dealer for a $200 (coupon) four wheel alignment. My car has never ridden better. It's now regularly doing canyon carving duty in the hills above Santa Cruz.

You probably already know this, but it looks like the wheel is available from MBUSA. The price is only $2158 (gulp) plus $150 care charge (choke) plus local sales tax (sigh).
