ECU and TCU Tuning Companies and Clarifications
I've had my 2014 E63 S-AMG Wagon for a few years now - purchased with around 80,000 miles, now have a little over 102,000 - and I'm ready to tune it. I've read through the stickies over the last few weeks but now that I'm looking to pick a tune (or tunes), I was trying to get some updates to the current companies that are tuning.
For example, in terms of ECU tunes:
- I know there is Eurocharged but then I've heard of something like "Jerry's EC Tune" and other options with names attached.
- And then I also know there's ECC Tuned (Tuning?) and that might also be EuroCharged but in Canada. Is that true?
- And then there's AMS in Chicago (but I think they only dyno tune in person).
- And then I know there is RENNtech.
Oh, and then there's the TCU tuning! Based on the stickies I understand that might be the way to go before the ECU but I'm having a harder time keeping those tuners straight.
- I know EuroCharged has a TCU tune.
- So does ECC (in Canada). And then I've heard of Slav's file... is this the ECC file? Is this available remotely?
- RENNtech will TCU tune in person only.
- But then I also know there's the EDOK Tune but I'm having trouble tracking that down. I saw that user 5soko can tune that but only in person. Is that the only way to get the EDOK TCU tune? That seems to be the best one...
For what it's worth, I'm in Reno, NV. So, I only have 91 octane available. I haven't explored Ethanol yet but probably won't for the time being.
Also related to my locale: our emissions testing is OBD only. There's no visual and no sniffer. So, my goal (dream?) is to upgrade the downpipes to 3 inch catless **IF** I can get a tune that will still show the catalyst efficiency monitors for readiness have run. I know this might be a big ask but I've had tunes for other vehicles where the tuner could get the monitors to show all green. I'd love some feedback from folks that have experience with this, too.
Thanks in advance for the information.

ECC Tuned used to be Eurocharged Canada, but went their own way and now there is a different Eurocharged Canada franchise
Slav's tune = ECC tune, and both ECU & TCU tunes are available remotely
The ECC TCU tune is from the same guy who made the EDOK (5soko) TCU tune available ... so they are likely at least comparable, if not identical
@5soko would probably know. I haven't seen the 5soko meet-ups scheduled since ECC came out with their remote option, which was said to be from the same guy

correct from my understanding as well. Tune wise , my opinion is Jerry offers a comprehensive ecu tune that has never let me or anyone I’ve helped down .

Doesn't that mean EDOK? My understanding was that 5soko didn't write the TCU tune himself. The TCU tunes may not be exactly the same, but if they are derived from the same guy, surely they are very similar in quality.

EDOK never had TCU tunes via ECC prior or current from what I'm aware of and know. ECC does their own personal TCU tuning and products.
As I work directly and closely with EDOK, my personal knowledge and experience over the years with so many members has created a unique 5soko tune, with multiple versions of TCU and CPC tune’s finely tailored thru data, that I can call my own.
My TCU tuning and CPC’s over the years has evolved of course and been fined tuned thru the many 100’s of 1/4 mile runs and dynos, 1000’s of datalog’s, and of course numerous high HP builds and multiple 1000+HP, including many builds from the men above, @Cifdig and @Adnan Siddiqui .
What started in 2019 as my OCD kicking in and hyperfixation lead me on a Hunt to make M157’s faster and to find these mysterious TQ limiters holding the platform back for so many years and my travels to Germany to find the best in the world at unlocking and tuning these, turned into an amazing adventure and ride so many years later that I've been enjoying so much. Meeting so many members in person and making so many new friends along the way.
Bringing TCU tuning and CPC stateside for the first time outside of Renntech change the M157 platform forever. Mission accomplished.
Biggest positive is we have numerous tuners and companies offering TCU tunes and CPC tunes now for the community and the enthusiasts! We have options, we have more people involved, better educated forum members and this makes the community a better place and helps progress platforms to make them more fun for all of us to enjoy.
Also, I apologize for so late responses to emails, DM’s and texts, as this isnt my day job, just a obsessive passion of mine, i try to catch up and respond to everyone. I was in Florida earlier in the year and in europe in the summer. When life allows me, i like to make trips to meet members in person, always a better way to talk and speak ideas and datalog in person, etc.
