Your Take on Japan Imports? W212 E63

Hey Guys,
im still searching for a low mile W212 E63 Wagon and i found a 03/2014 available with only 28.000 miles on it.
Its a Import from Japan and now hasnt been driven regularly for about 2,5 Years.
Dealer did an oilchange when he imported it end of 2022 but thats it. After that only a few sunday drives he told me..

Whats your take on cars from Japan?
I would do a borescope / Compression test anyway so i dont really worry about the engine, especially with the low miles.
Also ill look out for all the things discussed in the last thread about pre buy checks: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...-checkups.html

But im still a bit unsure about buying a car from Japan.
I mean the car has been built in germany as all others are, if you change the command and the lighting the only thing japanese about it should be the FIN stickers..

As far as i could find out you can change the command to 100% european (im in Germany) features by coding / flashing.
At least thats what a coder told me.

The Headlights need to be completely swapped (steering wheel is on the left but ILS is set to Left hand traffic) to get the ILS features, otherwise your in "tourist mode" and lighting isnt as good as it should be. - Also not an issue

Rather important?:
Does anyone know something about standing damage on the E63? Usually cars tend do go a bit weird when not driven for so long and 2,5 years is quite some time.

Im curious what you guys have to say

(btw i searched the forum intensely about this topic before starting a thread, ill be flabbergasted if ill get a threadlink as an answer haha)
Thanks guys

- the car hasn't lubricated while sitting - sounds weird but you get me
- plugs corrode
- things dry up
- fluids need flushing and replacing
- battery needs replacing
- tires need inspection
- environmental: animals, humidity, moisture, climate exposure?
- otherwise not a huge risk, these are modern cars, they do fine sitting around so long as properly maintained

Additionally, does the vehicle have service records? I often see these missing in Japanese imports. Has the vehicle been smoked in? Most of their e63s are optioned with the 'ashtray package' 301. Also, the license plate holders are the wrong shape for my country's license plates, which would annoy me.

Otherwise this vehicle's origin wouldn't put me off, we receive a lot of used Japanese imports in my country and these days they are treated equally with non used imports.

The steering wheel is on the wrong side, just like in the UK. Unless I get a job as a mail man and use the car to deliver mail, I would not like it.

Also, Japanese cars use some weird VIN.

Did not interpret his statement to say the car is already in the U.S. But given the several comments above, my question is "why do you want a German car imported from Japan?" I would go for a U.S. version, accept higher mileage and look for comprehensive service records.

Car has been stored indoor, and sure all these parts will need replacement.
So far this isn't putting me off..

My main Worry is that the Command wont be working properly...
A Coder told me he can convert it 100% no issues, but ive heard others say its not that easy if even possible... not sure what to think about that
I think ill try to convince the dealer to already convert the command to german settings and see how it goes from there.
Car is already in germany btw

It does have the ashtray package yes, but i think odour is something ill be able to handle. I work in hotel so i know a thing or two about how to get rid of cigarette stench.
I havent seen the service records yet, but i think by borescoping the cylinders ill be safe from engine issues

Unfortunately its not that easy..
Im searching for a car in palladium, selenite or designo graphite paint... i just love dark silver / gray paints.
For me distronic+ , the panoramic roof and dynamic + climated seats are MUST HAVE's on this car, i wouldn't buy one missing only one.

And then trying to find one with lower miles, lets say up to about 60k miles... not that easy.
