Today they posted a “lightning lap” post of the e63s and while I can’t see anything written there is a pile of pictures that look like they have been taken at VIR. Good news???

How do they get to Long Beach? Across the Atlantic to the East coast and then by rail, or through the Panama Canal, or?
Wondering how I should have my car shipped back from Germany. Could have it sent to my local dealer here in So Cal, or to a dealer on the East coast, then fly out to pick it up there and drive back to CA.
I have about a zillion frequent flier miles, so not a big deal for me to fly to go pick it up.

Panama Canal but if you have the miles and the time I would do that so when you get it home your already out of break in period and can drive it like it's meant to be driven!

I'll have it for two weeks in Germany before dropping it off to be sent back home. Figuring I'll be pretty close to done with the break-in by then.
Not that I'd plan some Cannon Ball run to get it back to So Cal, but it's got to be a lot faster than the going by boat.
Once did Fairfax, VA to San Diego in 56 hours in rental truck with governor set to 65 MPH, aught to be able to do a bit better in this. Be a nice chance to try out the autonomous driving features. Bet I would be a lot less fatigued in the E63 than the rental truck

I doubt the VPC has any info even if you were to get the Operations Manager on the phone direct down there. It's endless rows of cars as far as the eye can see.

I know with BMW you can take delivery after you do ED at their Performance delivery center.

Interesting, my dealer, who also does European delivery sales by referral from other dealerships around the country, did tell me that I could choose where to have the car sent. Perhaps that choice needs to be made at the time of purchase, not drop off for return.
Will discuss with him when he returns from vacation.

You can do this for BMW and other marques, don't see why MB would not do it. Called a courtesy delivery and there is a small charge for the receiving dealer to prep an deliver for you.

I was just told that we will be lucky to see the car for Halloween....Most likely November
If that's the case I am out and will re-order for spring..No point in getting the car for winter.
This is the biggest **** show I have seen with a new car

Where are you located?
i have the same notion as well. I was given a prebuilt allocation sitting in Halifax. It was supposed to be delivered August... it doesn’t look good for anytime soon and I might as well just order exactly what I want and get it in the spring...

European Deliveries
I will say that those who did Euro Deliveries who's car is currently on the water will have recourse when there car hits and gets stuck at port. Those people will have paid in full for a car that they can't use. For all of us with our measly little deposits we are just complainers with no substance.
