Debadged W213 E83 Wagon in Monterey

Here is a W213 E63 wagon in Selenite Grey Metallic with carbon ceramic brakes and complete exterior carbon fiber trim. I ordered the car with both badge delete options. I'll try to take some meaningful pictures of the carbon trim later but for now here are some sunlit pictures of my 3-day old wagon.

One of the biggest improvements from the W212 is the quicker shifting transmission. Also, the lag time between shifting from forward to reverse and back to forward is somewhat improved. It's not as long an "eternity" waiting for the transmission to engage.

Great looking wagon. Is the new tranny a double clutch now?

Not double clutch... the W213 is 9 speed MCT vs W212 which is the 7 speed MCT. Hope that helps.

It's a lot quicker shifting in my opinion. No more "shifting by appointment" (depress and release - the appt., then wait for the shift). In fact, I'm using the paddles more because of the improvement.

Bluesea, the estate looks amazing...any thoughts about blacking out the chrome pieces?

Ive always found this post to be the best explanation of the DCT vs the MCT

A dual clutch transmission eliminates the torque converter as used in conventional automatic transmissions. Instead, dual clutch transmissions that are currently on the market primarily use two oil-bathed wet multi-plate clutches, similar to the clutches used in most motorcycles, though dry clutch versions are also available. In DCTs where the two clutches are arranged concentrically, the larger outer clutch drives the odd numbered gears, whilst the smaller inner clutch drives the even numbered gears. Shifts can be accomplished without interrupting torque distribution to the driven roadwheels, by applying the engine's torque to one clutch at the same time as it is being disconnected from the other clutch. Since alternate gear ratios can pre-select an odd gear on one gear shaft whilst the vehicle is being driven in an even gear, (and vice versa), DCTs are able to shift more quickly than other cars equipped with single-clutch automated-manual transmissions (AMTs), a.k.a. single-clutch semi-automatics. Also, with a DCT, shifts can be made more smoothly than with a conventional Automatic Transmission, making a DCT more suitable for conventional road cars.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mercedes-AMG developed the 7-speed MCT "Multi Clutch Technology" planetary semi-automatic transmission.
The MCT transmission is essentially the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission without a torque converter. Instead of a torque converter, it uses a compact wet startup clutch to launch the car from a stop, and also supports computer-controlled double declutching. The MCT (Multi-Clutch Technology) acronym refers to a planetary (automatic) transmission’s multiple clutches and bands for each gear. The MCT is fitted with four drive modes: “C” (Comfort), “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport plus) and “M” (Manual) and boasts 100 millisecond shifts in "M" mode. MCT-equipped cars are also fitted with the new AMG DRIVE UNIT with innovative Race Start function. The AMG DRIVE UNIT is the central control unit for the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission and all driving dynamics functions. The driver can change gears either using the selector lever, or by nudging the steering-wheel shift paddles. The new Race start Function is a launch control system which enables the driver to call on maximum acceleration, while ensuring optimum traction of the driven wheels.

Vic, I was wondering when someone would bring that question up, lol. I was vacillating over whether or not to order the night package. I agree that it would suit this car better with its black carbon trim and wheels. I can always replace the silver trim around the windows with the black trim but I actually, did not want these black rims. I had to go forged and the bright aluminum wheels were just too bright for me. I figured that I could more easily sell the black forged wheels than the silver ones so that is a reason why I spec'd them. I thought I might warm to them but I haven't. I thought of painting the wheels but I'm not all that thrilled with the wheel design for this particular car and lightening them up would accentuate the design. The black hides the design somewhat.

I'm thinking of HRE P107s, maybe in 19s, in a titanium or dark clear finish - a little lighter than the car's paint. This Posche has the HRE P107s in "brushed dark clear." Sweet!

I'm not sure what model it is but it is a beauty. I only posted it to show the wheels I'm considering.

I realized that I misspelled Porsche, didn't depress the "r" key enough - were you giving me a hint? Lol

It appears to be a 991.1 C2S (non wide body).

I think the HRE P107 would be the perfect choice for you but then again I'm a little biased considering that's the set I ordered for my personal vehicle

Here are P107's in Brushed Dark Clear that we took some high resolution shots of.

If you or anybody else need help in choosing the perfect wheel style, finish, and fitment give me a holler. We've been HRE's largest dealer in the world for over a decade straight - you have my word that you would be taken care of.

Yes. I would have ordered the factory "twin spoke" for my car but I wanted/needed a forged set. I had your style wheel on my W212 E63 and looked forward to spec'ing them but alas, the new 20" version is not forged. The S63 Coupe has this style in a forged set but the offsets are different. Nice, clean wheels by the way...

And, Yeah! "We don't need no stinking badges."

Thanks for the pictures and the acknowledgement of our finely honed tastes I actually just ordered a set from my local dealer. I'm doing several things with them so it made practical sense to do everything in one place. I have GMP in my backyard. I have been on your website several times and I'd be happy doing business with your firm at some point. You have a great picture gallery! Thanks for posting this P107 picture.
