Interesting wagon results- 11.1 at 129? Right track, right conditions maybe but 129 seems lofty as the sedan has not come close. Also how is the Sport Turismo slower to 60 but faster to 100 yet slower in the quarter? Typo?

I was wondering too... but could gearing make a difference?
Nevertheless, I'm not going to question the dominance of the AMG!

I just dont see the gearing making that type of trap speed... but Im honored that our AMG's are killing it.

When will that real M5 head to head occur? I know you guys will post it!!!!!

based on paper, the M5 is supposed to edge out by a nose

On a related note—has any M5 video or review addressed how the car sounds versus the E63S?

Yes and I think that will be the case in a same place, same time test.

But with that being said, the pics of the live M5's are here as first deliveries were on Wednesday and the car is bit subdued IMHO. I know that many feel that the Benz dilution would call my statement hypocritical and I can see why. I guess thats why I got the Edition 1 as its look is just aggressive.

I think color makes a big difference along with the wheels. This M5 looks strong:

48 more hours till mine comes in.... but yes it looks way less aggressive than the E63s. `

Know what you mean by subdued. Something about the rear (in this view) feels uninspiring and compressed. I think this might be a general challenge with large 4-doors (contributing to the 4-door coupe movement I'm sure). You have this monster engine and aggressive, highly contoured front end, and then this really standard looking rear 15%. I think Audi did rear ends the best with their circ 2005-10 RS series when they put the much-larger fenders on the standard cars. Made the back of the car feel so much more present (a la last generation rs6 avant). Now the standard versions have large fenders, so the mega versions are harder to differentiate.

I feel similarly about the e63 sedan btw, thus I'm ordering the wagon =) Plus I need to haul groceries... and piles of money (reference humorous review that I can't find right now).

the m5 needs to add those Mperformance (cf) parts onto the car to make it look better, IMO.

Some of the new owners have stated its a very nice sound but then its compared to the F10 which was sadly a waste of an exhaust in my eyes (ears). I had 3 S63tu's (2 M5's and an M6) and all 3 went under the exhaust knife right away because the sounds were so muted and lack aggression. The F90 has those burbles and pops that so many like (Im ok with them as long as they are not over the top like my F Type R was).

#1: M5
#2: E63S
#3: CTS-V
#4: Panamera
in short, M5 is the quickest and very comfy at the same time, best overall package.

Doesn't surprise me at all. The M5 ride quality has always been exceptional. As is the Panamera. The E63S ride quality is pretty poor, but on the other hand, the handling is such better than the F10 M5 CP and I suspect it will handle better than the new M5 too. Boils down to what you want. Personally I like the M5 performance profile, and were it not for the looks and interior design, I would have bought the M5 instead of the Benz. However those things matter.

I find it a joke the CTS-V is so highly rated. To me it isn't in the same league as the other three because it needs AWD.

I think the panamera was the base turbo and not the hybrid. Great results nontheless

I couldn’t have said it any better... I think it will actually be a toss up in the real world.

good catch. I wouldn’t have thought to look at that. But now that I’ve looked it over a couple of things stand out... brakes are bigger, front tires are wider, and the final drive is different. Plus of course the mass can’t be ignored... I do think it will come down to the driver...
