Discontinuing of E43 AMG?

Hi guys, I was going to order an E43 AMG custom, and when I received the Ordering Guide, my dealer said that the E43 was no longer an option. I only see a new E450 coming out with the same engine. Has anyone heard otherwise or am I just being given the wrong ordering guide?

Maybe AMG does listen once in a while. It should never have been built in the first place...but that’s just my opinion and not helpful to your question.

I wonder if they are going to replace it wit the E53 - same engine as the CLS53? Looks like some healthy power out of that 4 cylinder

The 53 is based on the higher power inline 6. Very cool engine actually. It’s the same engine as in the S500 (not available in the US). The 43 engine is replaced by the 53.

Yes, all the 400/43/450 models will be replaced by the inline 6, the new AMG middle child will be the 53 series.

I believe a 53 will come at some point. (very cool car..I can start ordering E53's coupes/cabs soon).. the e350 then e450 then E63 may just be the line from now on though... maybe they keep the 53 off the E sedan to entice people to buy the CLS53 (E class based) for awhile

But yes, the E43 I believe is done... Lucky to the few that have them.. my last one is being produced end of May.. changeable, one in process now.. 1 at port and two in-stock.. then Im out lol..

Was a very cool car I think.. near 400hp was good for people who wanted a great fun daily car that wasn't as bonkers (awesome?) as the E63.. but had less maint,, roughly 30-40k cheaper...still got you an AMG track day and was just a great car.. will be missed

The C43/GLE43/ will live on...

2017 E43 AMG
Good to hear. Interesting that the E43 made the Car and Driver top10 list of cars to buy and wait for yet they only let it run for basically two years.

Haha, wasnt it all V6 E classes they said? I think the 450 will be close?

The E43 did whoop them all here in C&D LINK

+1
IMO it's the same for 53 and 73...the moniker is all messed up and nearly everything MB is AMG nowadays LOL.

I dont think the C43 will get the inline 6. It wont be called the C53. It will retain the V6T.

The bigger cars will get the 53 i.e. the inline 6 powertrain

I stole 3 more changeable e43's.. So I have 4 changeable now.. 2 instock.. One on the water..

I will be sad to see the e43 go... Don't know now that we will get a 53 anytime soon...

The 450 on my has 3 less hp, but the brakes, suspension and amg-Ness of the e43 was nice.. Plus the $1900 amg track day... (AMG DRIVING ACADEMY)

No, everything will be inline 4, inline 6, or the small v8, just power levels will change. They are moving there for a reason, regardless what people like. There's no reason to keep the v6 and the I6.

correct. But not right away in the US. For example, the S450 has an in-line 6 for non-US countries and the old V6 for the US.

Yeah for some reason we haven't got the 48v system or the inline 6 yet. The push for mild hybrid on everything is coming, every time we go to training they mention the new stuff, but when I ask why it's not here yet, even though it's in Europe, the answer is always "it's not ready yet". I'm assuming it's some sort of emissions thing, as that's the only real difference between the US and the rest of the world.

It's emissions and crash testing.. Everytime there are some changes they need recertification.

We get the new in line 6 48v (EQ boost electric compressor) with single turbos this year on the cls53 and e53 coupe and cab... Not 100% on a 53 sedan at any point... Again maybe holding for awhile to boost sales on the cls... The amg gt sedan will get a 53 variant after the 63 this year... Probably spring 2019.

Other than that, the next application of any EQ electric turbo system will be in the upcoming a35 amg.. 2019..

Everything else will stay the same 250 variant in line 4 (cla/gla)... And 300 in the C class, glc etc.. Bumped to 255hp this refresh in fall. The v6 will continue in the gle350, and the 3.0 turbo v6 in a bunch of other cars.

My SA says that there will be an E53 sedan for MY 2019. Any way to confirm that?
Thanks

Well, it's not listed in the latest E-Class sedan order guide which came out on Friday.

I honestly thought there would be.. But based on recent conversations I've had it may or may not happen.. Probably not for 2019 in any case.. They don't want to affect the e450 and the upcoming cls which will have the 53 (as well as 450) engine..

53 could be e coupe and cab only as they don't get a 63 variant.. As well as cls if you need a 4 door or a gt53 if you need a more exclusive 4 door lol

I'll do decent discounts btw.. I have a few coming.. I stocked up.. Personally I liked the e43 a lot.. Probably why I stocked up lol

It looks as that may be the case as my SA is now telling me to order/change one of the 3 remaining allocations he has left.
Unfortunately my C43 lease ends in Dec. and I was hoping to order an E43 in the fall.
Time to think swapalease!
