Sport Seats bolster covers
I have been concerned with excessive wear on the side and lower bolsters on my seats. Good friends have an interior shop locally so they made some removable Alcántara covers. This should fix my future wear fears. I may be able to convince them to make a few more sets If anyone else is interested. Not sure what the price would be but I can ask if there's enough interest. I believe the same seats are offered in the GT as well.

5,000 mi. on the wagon and 6,500 on the GTS and they look like new...It could be that I never get out of the car and just drive continuously

Won’t it just get destroyed from one getting in and out of the seat everyday and the leather bending back and forth?
I don’t think the dirt will be an issue here...

If I had the car on a lease or planned on flipping it in a few years I probably wouldn't worry about it, but I typically keep my cars for quite a while. Given that, I've been thinking about setting a second memory position to run the seat back further when I exit so that its easier to get in without rubbing against the bolsters as much.

It probably depends on how fat and sweaty you are, if your real fat and sweaty the side bolsters are probably not gonna hold up to well. If your slim and dry the side bolsters will probably last the lifetime of the car. But ya, that to me looks like one of those mods that the user is gonna get sick of pretty quick and say screw it I wanna feel the real thing. MB uses good material so it's probably not that much of a issue. Cars like Vettes I notice you always see holes in those side bolsters when the cars get older.

BMW 550i M- Sport; '19 E63s or '19 M5??
Well, inventive solution!
This is just one of the reasons I went with the multi-contour massage seats. I have similar seats in a sportscar, and while they are great for support, etc. I prefer something else in my daily driver.

What you wear makes a difference too. When I wear dress pants and am not paying attention, I often hear / feel one of my rear pant buttons scratching along the bolster in my Porsche (which has several visible said scratches). That seat's super low, which exacerbates the issue.
Rough denim probably would cause faster wear then cotton or wool as well. I like the idea of a memory position that's far back!

Maybe driving nude will extend the life of the bolsters Sorry couldn't resist, funny thread. Y'all can laugh at me in the intercooler covers thread as what I did does look a little micky mouse but the grates are on there tight and hopefully will get me back up north to New England from Florida in a couple weeks with no stone holes in the intercoolers. But Ya, I hear you JD, I'm always trying to do things to preserve things. I put a carbon fiber decal cover over the rear bumper of my wagon to try to prevent damage as I'm constantly loading and unloading things, it does not really look the greatest but it works and the material is very tough and no scrapes on it yet. It applied with some wrinkles across the top but oh well, it will remove easy enough when it does start get worn out and then I'll just do another one hopefully without the wrinkles.

I have beige seats coming on mine. My M3 had a white interior. Really no way around wear, especially on white or beige. Although I never had a problem with blue jean transfer. It’s just one of those things you have to live with.

"...well, you see officer, the reason I have no clothes on is a BIT complicated. But before I explain, take a look at this pristine bolster!"
Oh, and no clothes + leather seats - talk about some sweat! Hope that ventilation works reeallllllly good.

Just got my car and that driver bolster is definitely prominent. Feels so nice driving it though!

Ronin-"Well I'm now at 10,000 mi. and my seat is starting to show some wear in the bolster edge...sad "
Maybe you put on weight and are sweating profusely at the hips ???? Put on his bolster covers and send me the unused supper model you paid for

Good data point, thanks for updating. On a 1-5 scale, how meticulous would you say you were at keeping the leather cared for? Said another way, how often did you apply a leather care (not cleaner) product?

When I get in and out of the car, I put my hand right at the apex of the bolster to try and reduce wear when I slip by. It seems to have worked on my R8, but my E63S is of lighter leather, so we will see!
