Car arrived.... First impressions of Lunar Blue E63S
I ordered my E63 in January for May delivery. My Audi S6 lease ends this month. With perfect timing, the car arrived this weekend and I picked it up yesterday, I chose Lunar Blue with the black forged rims, AMG night package, panorama roof, Burmester 3D stereo, massage seats, AMG premium package, acoustic comfort package, sport exhaust. No carbon brakes. Happy accident in that I ordered the black flowing lines dash, but the code was put in incorrectly and the car was built with the brown flowing lines. It is stunning. My wife loves it and the brown adds just the right contrast. I would never have chosen that. Unfortunately, my car shipped with the Pirelli P Zeros. I was hoping for Michelin. No worries there as tomorrow I am installing them. I will take the Pirellis home since mine is a 3 year, 10K lease. I will put them on in like 30 months (if the Michelins make it). In my Audi, I got at least 2 and half years on the tires. About 21K miles. The car was also built with the Nappa wheel. I do not recall ordering that, however, it feels fine so no biggie!
First impressions are that this thing handles WAY better than my Audi S6. DIfferent universe. I also do not feel that the car in comfort mode is rough at all. Really smooth quiet ride. I suspect some who feel that the E63 ride can be harsh have the AMG performance seats. With the multi-contour massage seats, it is really comfortable! I admit, that we have had rain since I got the car and I have only put maybe 15 miles on it. I can't comment on the engine much as I have babied it so far. I can tell it wants to be unleashed though.
The stereo is really good. I already installed a 128GB SD card with about 50% full. Mostly very high quality rips.... The system is noticeably louder than the Audi B&O that I had. Prices are similar. The MB has better bass for sure. The Audi had very good imaging in non-surround mode, maybe as good or better than the MB, however, the Burmester really shines with the 3D surround enabled. They did a great job with this and the result is a super immersive experience. Mine has the new COMAND revision and everything feels snappy with no apparent lagging that I have read here.
The trunk is a bit smaller than the S6, partly due to the nicer subwoofer.
The car is super quiet. Maybe a bit more than my S6..... The insulation is quite good. You can still hear the exhaust, especially in Sport Plus mode.
The COMAND system is nowhere as intuitive or simple as the AUDI MMI (which was close to perfect for ease of use). However, the voice commands work well and I am adapting. I don't know why they made it so multi-layered. Maybe that is why the new setup is in the works....... Just in time for my 2021 lease end!
My Samsung S8 seamlessly integrated into the car and using Google, I can call up WAZE, Maps, and many other features directly from the car. My AUDI did not have that.
I had been using a windshield mounted Escort MAX detector, but time for an upgrade. I am installing the new Escort MAX Ci 360 built in with the Midcity Engineering interface so that the radar warnings appear in the heads up and/or dash! I think you can even control the volume using the steering wheel! When this is done, I will post about it.
I will get the two-year maintenance plan at 2K miles when I go for the rear oil change. No wheel and tire for $1995, since for $22 a tire I get the same basic thing when I buy the Michelins tomorrow.
Here are a few shots. Just the phone, and it is gloomy outside..... After I drove more, I can add more thoughts.
Taken last night. Brown looks great!

Beautiful color! I wish the high-end Burmester system was available in the wagon. Before I left Audi my last corporate car was the RS 7 which had the B&O Advanced package. I appreciated the added speakers and more dynamic soundstage.

Love it! Congrats! Glad to hear the upgraded sterio is worth. Had a hard time spending the extra 4500 but i did and my order is in. Nice to hear they also have improved the command to get rid of the lag. Wife has a 17 C43 and the lag is horrible.

I'm also in the "I don't remember ordering the plain leather steering wheel" camp. But it worked out because I had intended to order without the ultrasuede wheel. They look awful after a couple months of sweat and oil and it will never look/feel the same after cleaning.
Congrats on the car!

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Looks good. I really like these cars in the Lunar Blue. I too have the Brown Flowing lined Magnolia wood on my Red Wagon. The cool thing it is rare and I don't see the Brown flowing line wood available on the 2019s so even more rare. I'm pretty happy with the regular Burmester Hifi in my wagon. At first I thought it was not so great, but the more I listen to it the better I like it. There is some lag and it takes a while to boot up everything in the command when the car is started. I'm hoping maybe there is update when I do my first 10K service in a couple of months, my car was built mid last September.

Congratulations on the pick up, I love the lunar blue! Interested in hearing your impressions after driving it some more.
Coming from older sports cars, the C63 S with performance seats I drove didn't feel uncomfortable to me. I drove it for 30 minutes, and it definitely rode more like some of my sports cars. If people aren't looking a car with a sporty ride though, I could definitely see compliants. I'd bet those massage seats soak up a lot of those bumps!

I saw your beast at Tunerworks. Loved the aggressive whMeel you chose. I’m pondering a set of HRE’s P103 for my E63 wagon. Bobby’s convincing me lol. Hope to see you on Calgary streets someday.
