Excessive Tire Wear - I Think?
Hello. I have a 2016 E63 AMG. It have Pirellis, 255/35 ZR19 (96Y) - came with the car. After 1 year, failed inspection - front tires worn. I am not an AMG expert - first one, so went to the dealer I purchased from. They said 1) Pirellis are soft and wear quickly 2) the way the AMG delivers power to the front tires makes them wear quickly, then finally 3) the car was set up for high speed driving like you could do in Europe - they were toed in to accommodate 120MPH plus driving. So I bought new tires and they re-adjusted the front end.
1 year later in for B service and with less than 10K on the front tires - they said they need to be replaced. The dealer will not give me a clear answer. And why would they - they get to sell me more tires. I am not an expert but this seeems not right. I don’t race - I have fun when I can but certainly not excessive. What is the deal? I drive in New England. Is there something wrong with the car? Is this just how AMGs role? Does anyone recommend a better tire? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! So is that something that can only be done at the dealership? They say they did align so how do I know if it is proper? Sorry I am the newest of the newbies. Does the fact I keep hearing “they are staggered mean anything?” I was hooping I can get new tires outside the dealership?

2016 is a w212 you may get better responses in the right section
staggered means bigger tires in the rear. Many cars have been doing it for decades, nothing special to mb

Short tire life is part of the deal with a heavy, powerful car. The pirelli tires are junk in general, and swapping to something else will be better but not necessarily longer lasting. Alignment has more to do with it, if they corrected the toe that should help, did you get a printout from the alignment? What were the final numbers?

They did but I can’t find it - over a year ago. I will check with the dealership - maybe? Is there an optimal number / setting or is all dependent on a specific car? I am looking at MICHELINPILOT SPORT A/S 3 PLUS - thoughts?

if you are not tracking the car and/or driven in extreme high speed, 51psi is way too high. I set my tire pressure to high 30's for front & rear and I am not following what the door jamb is suggesting.

do a trial & error setting. You can start off with around 38psi front & rear and see how you feel of the overall ride and then adjust to your liking. I would say betweem 36psi to 40psi would be ideal (in various combination for front & rear setting)

2018 E63S AMG
OP didn't specify which model / year. Said tires were replaced once then a year later need to be again. Are we talking a 2018 E63S here, or an earlier MY?
My Pirellis look OK at ~7500 miles. Run 41 psi up front.

Agree Pirellis are not great tires
my C63 Pirellis wore out in 2000 miles and I don't drive aggressive
these cars in general wear tires worse than regular cars because of HP , speed, braking ets
you have two options to decrease the frequency of replacement
Michelin 4S if you want to stay with summer tire
or Continental DWS 06 high performance AS tires , they are warranted for 45 k , and can use all year round .Mine wore after 18 k miles so I had them replaced and got credit for like 50 % of the price, and I personally don't think they affect performance for street driving
I have a 2016
