Hopefully MB recognizes there will be a significant drop in sales and try to get as many cars here before the tariffs as possible.
Where exactly do the vehicles clear customs? Mine has been released from the port and is on property at MB's VPC facility on US soil in Georgia. I'll be surprised if it's subject to a subsequent tariff at this point.

Unless some miracle happens, it looks like the tariffs will be imposed sometime in August or early September at the latest. The hearings and meetings are getting wrapped up by the end of this month (July)...
I think that timing is slightly off. There is a notice and comment period before the effective date of any tariffs (at least that is how it worked with the Chinese tariffs under Section 301) and no tariffs have been announced (yet). If the tariffs were announced on August 1, they would not likely be effective until October.

The timing for the Chinese tariffs was as follows:

Following an investigation, on April 4th, tariffs were announced. Comments were due on the 11th of May. A hearing was held on the 15th of May. The tariff list was published on June 20th. The effective date was July 6th. So just over 90 days from the announcement of the tariffs to the imposition of same. So likely that most people on this board with a car in process will likely have the car pass through customs before that point in time.

They clear customs shortly after arriving at the port. Your car will not be subject to the extra tariff if it already cleared customs when it comes into effect, but Mercedes may still apply uniform pricing to unreleased cars regardless of when they cleared customs.

I’m holding out hope that the EU and US come
to terms somehow. Trying hard to be optimistic.

The hearing for the auto tariffs is this Thursday... Also, remember that the auto tariffs are under Section 232 ("national security"), not 301. They can move this fast like they did with the steel tariffs using that section. The Commerce Department recommended those Feb. 16, Trump announced them March 1, signed the order on March 8, and the tariffs were effective March 23. If the auto tariffs follow a similar timeline, they will become effective sometime in late August (the Commerce Department is likely to recommend them shortly after the hearing this week.)

This is why I'm not a trade lawyer - looks like you are right - I was looking at the timing for the Section 301 rulemaking. Let's hope there is some back and forth that leads to some delays. My build is slated for 3rd decade of July. If they ship quickly, it just could get here under the wire.

My car will be in Brunswick this Sunday the 22nd. Pretty sure I will be looking for an alternative if asked to pay $25-30K more than I previously budgeted.

Any cars that have made it to the VPC before the tariffs hit, having passed customs, will not be subject to them. If someone has a car on the water when they go into effect, it will suddenly cost 25% more...not because of increased costs, material shortages, or anything practical; it will be solely because a pen hit paper somewhere making it so.

Update for Canadian orders: spoke with my SA over the phone yesterday. As of now, all MY19 models (not just AMG) that were originally cleared for delivery now have a VPC status - so they are "all stuck, no 19's yet" - his exact words.

There is no info on release date, but as above, safe to assume will be in September. Also, still no pricing information for us Canadians.

Sept ... sounds like that's pretty typical release month for new model year cars. So, there must be a glut of 18 left to get rid of and yet MB is not giving out big factory credit still.

This blows. Time just sitting at port + risk of tariffs. Really sucks.

Right, but as long as they are not released, they can be subjected to the same price increase by Mercedes. The price increase to the customer is likely to be effective on all cars released from the VPC after the tariffs come into effect. I doubt that they will release with different prices depending on when the car cleared customs. It would be a complicated mess, and it would lead to dealer mark-ups. I would expect them to release all cars with the new higher pricing when the tariffs come into effect regardless of when customs was cleared.

The hope is that they will release the cars from the VPC before the tariffs come into effect, but if the release date is in September, then this is unlikely because the tariffs will most likely be imposed in August, which would lead Mercedes to raise prices before the September release.

Something to think about. If MB releases pricing, get a signed deal and close the financing before the tariffs hit. Although, that might be why they havent released pricing yet.

I have been tracking 2018 E63 inventory at my dealer - literally every inventory car has disappeared within 1-2 weeks after popping up in their system. Talking to my SA, these cars are high in demand. Mind you they only get about one car per month.

Some facts: MB Brampton is a medium to high volume dealer and currently have zero 2018 E63's in stock, while MB Burlington have eight in stock, and MB Downtown have 22 2018's - you read that right - 22!

MB Brampton has ordered two 2019's which are likely sitting at the port in Halifax with my car (showing up as inventory on their individual website), where as the other two dealers are showing zero 2019's (have not ordered MY19s or are not disclosing). Therefore, as mentioned above, it is very logical for MB Canada to hold MY19's for at least end of 3rd quarter of the year, at which point, factory credits may be given out.

Let the waiting game continue.

I still have not seen a W213 E63 sedan or wagon where I have driven mostly, mid / NorthToronto, Richmond Hill, Woodbridge, Markham and Scarborough. It has been 7 months now.

Talk about an unicorn.

From 2017 to now, I have seen three at dealers (one of which I test drove), and four in the wild - two in Brampton, one on hwy 427 / hwy 27, and one on hwy 407.

I drive a Cayman GTS - I have seen 4-5 of these since 2016.

I drove F82 M4 before that, I see an F80/F82 almost everyday.

Have you sold your Cayman GTS ? If not, are you trading that in to MB Brampton. Reason I am asking is I have a friend who is looking for Cayman S ... yours would be higher priced, I know. If it is still open, let me know your current asking price.

I guess Pfaff will have it marked up at least 20-25%

Thanks for the info! Is it literally for a 2019 model year hold and general release? No technical issues, right? Any info different than the mid September release that most are assuming / expecting?

Mid September is a good timeframe, I'd say. Although I would personally expect sooner, that's not far-fetched. Let's keep in mind that we have the new CLS hitting VPCs currently, and that launch will likely affect release of 2019 E63's.
I think it's in their best interest to release them as soon as possible this time to avoid losing sales. Customers are concerned about higher prices because of the upcoming tariffs, and may rush to buy something else before prices go up.

Agreed. I'm new to the AMG community, but coming from Rennlist (Porsche), I know for a fact that Porsche corporate monitors major online enthusiast communities to check the pulse of the owners / future owners. I can only cross my fingers and hope that MB / AMG would do the same...

Mine was D1 as of 07/10. With a PO# or VIN, could you tell which tires it shipped with?
