2019 E63S Sedan Sailing. Anybody Else?

The only way to minimize the impact will be to keep your current car. If leasing, buy it at the end of the lease (the residual won't go up.) There's still an impact because maintenance and repairs will be more expensive due to tariffs on parts, so you can't really fully hide from these tariffs.

Personally, FWIW, I would not take a 2019 E63S that has been sitting in BAL since 7/10 thanks to MB that costs 20-25% more. My 212 E63S is very nice and paid for.
Also personally, I don't suspect the tariffs to happen. I suspect concessions and deal making at the EU/Ger level and US level.
We shall see.

Anyone know for sure if cars coming to California via Georgia change vessels? My wagon is / was on the Orchid Ace but not sure if I should keep tracking that ship all the way to California or if I should get a new vessel name from my sales guy.

So far the administration has been dead serious - the threatened tariffs were actually imposed. Not sure why some think it would be different in this case. All indications are that this is absolutely going to happen very soon.
The EU can't do anything about it for two reasons. One is that in reality this isn't mostly about the EU even though Trump likes to talk about them. He knows that not many in the public care about the prices of luxury German cars, so he keeps mentioning Germany when in reality most of the impact will come from tariffs on imports from non-EU countries (Canada, Mexico, Japan, S. Korea). The EU can try to strike some special deal just for themselves with a gun against their head on this specific issue, but they know that this will just make them vulnerable to additional demands - this is not how trade deals are negotiated. The other reason they can't do anything about it is that Trump & Navarro are inspired by Bannon in the belief that tariffs on imports are actually a good thing for the US. They want to try protectionism at this time, and the rest is just noise. If you look at the trade agreement which was negotiated recently by the US with S. Korea, you will see that it actually raised tariffs overall, and perpetuated existing tariffs. Judge them by their actions, not the rhetoric that they wrap around it.

it’s going to remain on the Orchid Ace. Mine is also on that same ship coming to Long Beach. There are many different stops with ships. They unload at the destinations and also upload new cars to go to other destinations along the way.. but they do NOT remove what’s already on there just to put it on a different ship.

I just got a call from the Sales Manager at my dealer. To inform me my car is at port. He stated an anticipated release date of last week in July to first week in August. He said MBUSA has submitted all paperwork and awaiting federal approval. We’ll see.

In my experience with the Mercedes cars that I ordered, the sales managers just pull release dates out of nowhere, and these mean nothing. They don't know when the car will be released and aren't given any reliable information pretty much until it already happens.

They usually don’t.. the only thing they get are internal emails when it’s about a week away.. that’s the only time MBUSA reaches out to let them know.. that being said if he is correct and it’s starting to be the end of July now.. he could’ve got that email.. but even then it’s tentative.. so it could change.. but at least that’s when the ball gets rolling.. and usually it can be as soon as a week after that but also up to 2 months

It is.. they always want to say the worst case senario just in CASE it does get delayed for whatever reason.. and if you are expecting late September and get a phone call “your car is at the dealer and getting prepped for you to drive home, when would you like to come in today or this weekend?” At that moment anyone who’s been waiting on a car that was ordered is going to be Essatic and full of anticipation, happiness and joy...
at least in the US... for summer releases for the most part they have been released in August... the exact date no one knows.. MBUSA purposely doesn’t release an exact date to allow themselves wiggle room.
I fully anticiapte an August release for the 2019s.. at the very latest they could wait to week after Labor Day to use that as a final selling point if they feel there are too many 2018’s still in stock.. “end of the summer, Labor Day sale”

Just got a call from my dealer - Herb Chambers, a huge New England dealer with a bunch of MB branches. He says my 2019 E63s wagon is in Baltimore. It was produced a month ago. States that MB will not release any 2019s until likely mid-September. This could just be for wagons or for all E classes.

My dealer has shared this exact same info and was expecting a normal delivery time of about 1 week to dealer after ship hit port 7/10. Truth is, it comes when it comes, and they get very short notice. MBUSA not sharing with them why still in VPC (D1) or when planned release date.

Any other info would be helpful. Haven't hear back from my SA in a week on a couple questions I had

Update for Canadians: All 2019 models including GLC's, C Classes etc. have not received certification from the government; everything that is coming to Halifax will sit in Halifax. Prices come out after they are certified, and then cars will be released.

Donald Trump maybe realizing it’s going to be hard to get the tariffs with no support even from his own party tonight tweeted this:
The European Union is coming to Washington tomorrow to negotiate a deal on Trade. I have an idea for them. Both the U.S. and the E.U. drop all Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies! That would finally be called Free Market and Fair Trade! Hope they do it, we are ready – but they won’t!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
that’s after earlier in the day when he said they are good.
hopefully something gets resolved or something comes good out of the meeting tomorrow
