Another buyback/lemon? Options?
My CEL came on again last night and this time stayed on. Car seems to be running OK. I'm hoping it will cycle off after a few more restarts.
Meanwhile I'm down in my garage looking for my code reader. Haven't used it in a while so will probably need to update the firmware to make sure it's got 2018 data.

MB promises to fix their cars under warranty and I am sure they would do that. That a buyback is even considered is part of the very strong US consumer protection laws.
If if you would be in Germany they would laugh at the thought of buying back a well used car. Not just MB, but Porsche, BMW or Audi as well. Simply wouldn’t happen.
The only issue is that they apparently haven’t figured out the issue at hand and it’s taking too much time to resolve this relatively minor problem. It doesn’t appear that these cars need replacement engines.
Total of six codes found, two of each of the above. One set says stored and the other set says pending. If I understand the documentation correctly, the code when first detected is given a pending state. If during the second trip the code occurs again it is stored as permanent.
I'll try clearing the codes and see how long it takes for this to reoccur.

Thinking I may grab an all road or used RS7 to hold me over.
So recap, I got everything back except .60 a mile . I should have had them document it at the first CEL. Let that be a lesson I guess. If you have a CEL, even if it resets and the car seems to operate as normal I would have them document it. Would have put another 4-5k back in my pocket

Today while driving to lunch the car started running rough and the CEL came on again. Turned the car off at the light and restarted and the CEL and rough running had gone away.
But, if the engine detects the misfire within the next drive or two, the light will come on again and stay on till reset.
So, guess I'll make an appointment to take it in after the next time the light comes on.
I truly hope they figure out the issue as I really love this car and after waiting a couple of years and ordering all options to my spec, don't for a minute want to have to go through the buy back process.
