Honest E63S Wagon 'feeler' Thread
This isn't a for sale thread pretending to be a feeler thread as I am truly undecided as to what I'm going to do.
Since I sold the 17 SVR for the 18 E63S wagon mrs soulsea has been lamenting that we don't have an SUV, she's pretty unhappy with the wagon. So I'm weighing the idea of switching to a new gen G63. If I decide to go through with it I'll probably sell the wagon sooner rather than later as opposed to waiting to trade it in. I'm trying to figure out what market value is for these cars but its hard as it's a new model and a relatively rare one at that, so it's hard to find data.
It's a $130k msrp car with front facing ppf and the Zunsport grilles ... other than that it's a no issue 2000 mile car that looks brand new inside and out.
Any thoughts as to what I could sell it privately for?
I was thinking of listing it for $120k but I'm not sure if I could get more for it or if it's too optimistic.

shocking how the price here is so much less than the US. our pricing is pretty much exactly the same but then factor in the exchange rate. great deal.
love the ride btw, nice colour choice.

Just curious, what makes your wife unhappy about the wagon? Suspension too firm?

She likes being in all the sport cars I have but she feels that the SUV is more appropriate as a dd. The wagon is the first non SUV dd I've bought in over ten years and to me it feels like driving a practical GTR, but she doesn't see it that way. . She does let me do whatever I want with all the other cars and she has the right to influence the car she is in the most ... I guess.

go fast grocery getter wagon
I am in Canada too. I am just going to suggest/project on what I think if this is a brand new 18 and still sitting as inventory in the dealer's lot. Although there is no current factory credit to clear the 18 yet, if the dealer is eager to get ride of it, a potential customer could offer 7-8% off right now. If there is a factory credit given in August in Canada, then I would imagine it would be around $5,000 as a starter (so basically, $5,000 / $125,000 median MSRP = 4%), so I would think a brand new one could be have for around 11% off for being brand new. If it is a slightly used one, like yours, then one would probably be offering 15% of the MSRP for it.

The dealer will probably offer you $115K on a trade. You may be able to get $120K....just my guess...
If you are planning to stay with MB, may be better to trade in. That way you only pay GST on the difference

I'm going to ask the dealer for a trade in offer and see what they say, and then step it up $5k from there if I decide to sell it privately.
Thanks.;

Serge, there is about 6% from msrp to invoice and then another 5-6% in holdback (depends on dealer retail new sales) so lets assume 11% all in:
129825 x .89 is true MBUSA invoice or 115544
Since your car is used, a dealer can not lease it and further, its a wagon. No offense to wagon owners (Ive had a 2012 E63 version) but the used market is not strong. If you go to the dealer you will get hit around 105k or even less, its just the AMG way and Ive checked with my wholesalers. Now if you trade it in there you will probably get a better ACV on trade since they have two transactions. I figured Id tell you how it is since we are friends; text/call me if you have more questions:
There is insufficient auction data but this is the one sale and it was a perfect car (CR at 5.0) with low miles but I dont know the msrp here, yours is heavier ill bet.

I'd expect the dealer to low-ball me on a trade-in this quickly, at least 20K off purchase price. Better to sell privately if possible but yes, the wagon market is anemic to say the least.

The markup from invoice to msrp is about 8.4% based on my calculations and invoice information here in Canada. Not sure about holdbacks.

In case anyone is interested: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F323366756551
To save time, $110k is my bottom line number and the auction is set to accept any offer above that.

Wow. That's a nice selling price. Provided that you had a discount at the time of purchase that will make for a very "Un-AMG" like depreciation! Congrats!

Congrats! I think AMG wagon has enough fans and limited supply to justify better than 'regular AMG' market price.

And it looks like the OP sold car fast at $115k, seems my assumption is correct. For a no wait, super nice and clean car with a few $ks for film/coating, why NOT buy it and save $10-15 over a brand new one? I would.
A few years down - the difference gets bigger. Wagons hold their value much better than sedans, and sell faster.
And to OP - sorry for you - but in the end - "happy wife = happy life!"
And congrats on a great sales process!
