Dealer messed up my order on 2019 E63s.
So my ordeal began in May 2018. I called my local dealer and spoke with a salesman. They had an allocation to build one so we built one online together while talking on the phone. We went through every option meticulously.
The build out came to around $128-129k. He couldn’t give me an exact price because 2019 pricing was not out yet. But he said to expect around a 2-3% markup from 2018 pricing.
I agreed.
The next day he sent me some paperwork to sign including a build sheet for me to sign.
It had a bunch of codes and options on there that I quickly looked through and signed it “assuming” everything we discussed was on there.
Fast forward a few months, and he told me production had started early July. Hooray! I texted him yesterday and he sent me a VIN number and the MSRP...$119,xxx.
WTF????
It looks like the Burmeister 3D surround sound system was not ordered like we had discussed and the Premium 1 package was not ordered.
They have my $2500 non-refundable deposit.
These 2 huuuuge mistakes are deal breakers for me. What are my options?

Chances are you don't want to hear about not ordering something based on assumptions but personally I wouldn't worry other than the loss of time...
First off, If its not what you want, don't take it. You will not loose your deposit and the dealer can order it again. They might complain but you have the stronger hand. That said, AFAIK there isn't such a thing as an P1 package as an option as that is included in the base. But there must be something other than the Burmester 3D missing.

first, many states require dealer to return deposit with no questions asked. Second, you probably used credit card so you can dispute that charge and get your money back relatively easy that way. I wouldn't work with that dealer if they cant configure a car by your specs.

What @jm_case wrote but also you should really go over any documentation with a fine tooth comb. If you're not in the mood to read it thoroughly, wait till you are. Only sign once you're satisfied. Now if you don't like what's on the build sheet, see if you can get what you want reordered now. Otherwise you'll be looking at an up to 6 months wait to get what you want i.e. reject this when it arrives and then reorder what you want...

Thank you all for the advice! I'm going to refuse this vehicle and insist that I get one exactly how I want. If they have no more allocations, I will be going elsewhere AND get my deposit back.

If it’s not as you spec’ed it, jm_case should be able to get you another one.

Nothing to worry about as long as all the option codes are there

I really debated the 3D sound system. In my younger days I had some pretty nice stereos and the car audio system was super important to me. But, after giving it a lot of thought I ended up not adding it because I simply didn't think I would benefit from the additional quality. I have so much high frequency hearing loss that the standard Burmeister system is perfectly adequate for me - plus as a bonus I didn't lose the sunglass holder cubbie
Also as I'm planning on keeping the car for a long time, the potential resale value of the 3D system didn't seem worth spending the extra now for something I just wouldn't use.
Were I younger with better ears, I totally would have gone for it.
But as to the rest of the car's options, it looks like the important Distronic features are in there.
Ultimately though, it's a big purchase and you might as well get just what you want . . .

Not many states can do "non refundable" deposits

If you provide jm_case your vin, he can pull the spec sheet for you. The base price will show as $99,999, as final pricing hasn’t been released yet. The option code for premium pkg may have changed since last year, this year it’s called 997 Driver Assistance Pkg. I wouldn’t accept the car without this.

1) Burmester is option code 810 and seems to be standard for a 2019 E63S wagon.
2) The build sheet shows $99,999 base price vs $106,950 on MBUSA. From this thread, the build sheet prices are wrong?
3) I've heard some say that heated steering wheel isn't available. It shows up on this build sheet under the 445 warmth and comfort package. MBUSA website doesn't show it as part of the package.
4) The build sheet has 997 Driver Assistance Package at $2250 whereas the website shows the AMG Premium Package at $3600 with slightly different descriptions. This car also has 463 head-up display as a separate line item with a separate charge (vs being included in the AMG Prem).
Anyhow, a build sheet will show what the car actually has particularly if it has a VIN, etc - so look at it closely. But there are lots of inconsistencies out there that make the build/buy process more complicated than necessary...I would expect MB to do better.

I'm new to this as I'm just jumping in the market - either to buy one that's close to the build I want or order for delivery this winter. I received a build sheet from a local dealer the other day on an inbound car and noticed a few things that might be interesting that I haven't seen discussed elsewhere. It seems that options packages have changed from 2018 to 2019.

1. standard burmester, gen part of P1 standard on an AMG
2. MSRP is $108850 for a 19 E63 wagon... plus destination
3. for 19 heated steering is available w/new steering wheel
4. 18 was premium package, 19 is driver assist.. HUD separated as a stand alone

Got me all worried so I triple checked my paper work the dealer sent me after my car was built. Sure enough they left off 521 AMG Night Package and 068 Wheel Locks. Arrgh

Manager called and said he’s gonna see if he can get the parts for night package, not sure if that’s possible . I guess I could wrap the chrome or just fall in love with my shinier new car. Still super excited not letting it rain on my parade.

My dealer screwed up and ordered brown flowing lines dash in my Lunar Blue E63S. I speced the black flowing lines. Happy mistake as the brown is way nicer! Looks awesome..... Sometimes these things work out. On the other hand, the Burmester 3D was a top prioroty for me. That would have been a total deal breaker. Night package too.....

It's easy to fix some parts of the night package.. Exhaust tips are tougher

That’s exactly what I was thinking. May just leave it the way it comes and see if it grows on me. They said that when they called me to say they weren’t taking orders for HUD that they mentioned the Night Package was apart of the limited availability. I don’t remember but my build says I got HUD. Who knows?
