Front license plate mount recommendation?

I could place it one more section to the left but the sensor on the left gets triggered
In toronto, you need a front plate mount. You can get away with warnings until the cops just repeat your excuses of not having one..to you.
However, after trying the platypus plate mount and the rho-plate, the rho-plate gave more room for flexibility in actually not triggering the sensors. The w213 platypus mount was designed for the E43 apparently which does not have the strip of black below the front grill. So, it didn’t work for me..
What I don’t like is, the fact that is sits so high on the bumper that it almost starts to get in the way of the headlight.
I don’t want to drill holes, but at the same time If I could lower the plate without triggering the sensors, that would be great. The angles on the bumper don’t necessarily allow the plate to be moved around a lot as well.
I read up on the retractable plate mount but seems a little sophisticated..
Anyone have pictures or recommendations?

that does not look good at all. Also, it is interfering (partially) with the headlight light distribution

I know it looks bad if only I could get the plate mount to go lower left but zeven using an extender arm it will look ugly. I have heard of the no drill plate where you drill the bottom of the bumper, but they don’t make it for the w213.

I would think this would work on the MB, since you have already bought and installed the zunsport mesh grill.

appreciate the idea. However the mesh grille openings are so tiny that the assembly won’t fit :’(

Oh! Unless you are willing to do couple of small cutting on the mesh (to make it wide enough to fit in the back hook).

The cheapest and quickest way is simply zip-tied the plate onto the zunsport grill mesh

I don’t understand this. This is the same most everywhere that you have to have a front plate but that doesn’t mean we put them on. Yes you get a warning, yes you give an excuse, yes you get fix it tickets. That’s just the process is it not? Zip tie it on for the fix it and cut it off the next day after you get it signed off.

I carry mine in the trunk mounted to the factory bracket, which just snaps in a center rib above the splitter. There are two drill holes so it can secured. But if I had to mount it for any duration longer than to briefly satisfy a fix-it ticket, I'd use double sided sticky tape rather than drill. The whole assembly is pretty light and a couple inch square tabs of the stuff, one on either side, should hold it pretty well.

My mounting technique took no time at all--I simply didn't... et voila!

^ well, OP is in Canada. Most of the provinces required front plate, unless OP is willing to do this at a chance of getting a ticket, eventually, the insurance will lower the hammer on his premium down the road.

ticket is about $110 + surcharge (depending on which provinces). OP can definitely fight the ticket but will need to take time off and spend the time to go to court and prove his case, hopefully, the judge will either dismiss or find him guilty. If he does this many times, the traffic court judge can see his past cases of the exact violation and without much of a case, it is almost guaranteed a guilty verdict.

I don’t understand isn’t it just a fix it ticket? The after warnings or fix it tickets yes it $110.00 but NEVER is it a point considered towards Insurance. We have tint laws in California where it was a fix it ticket or pay $125. If you paid the $125 it was over. Never a driving infraction.

After the Houston Police Department went full on zero tolerance on no front license plate (I know of 10 different stops on i10 for this reason alone) I decided to go ahead and attach my front plates. I didn't want to drill holes in the front for the OEM bracket and I'm not a fan of the look of tow hook brackets. I ended up using these low profile brackets from Skene Design on both my cars. They attach to the underside of parts of the front facia with only two small holes required to be drilled there. No holes at the front. I like the look and even my E63S one (I should have gone for extra Short instead of Short for a more flush look) doesn't block my front sensors or camera.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
I guess now the city of Houston needs the extra revenue...

Someone really needs to introduce a bill in TX to get rid of the front license plate. So many states go just fine without the front.
