2018 E63S Wagon
Would probably be an easier sale if anyone in the market knew that there probably won't be any 2019s for sale until December and that they wouldn't get one until next spring if they found an allocation. The E63 is already a niche product, the wagon is a niche of a niche. The people that want them really want them but there aren't many of us.

Thanks for the offer. I am going to wait and see what happens on Cars.com and auto trader. I sell it for 99k without haggling but 92 just makes me sad.

Because AMG. Not that BMW is any better; Im only really seeing reasonable depreciation curves in year 1 from Porsche on Carrera's.

Now thats not saying the OP cant sell it for more to a private party but the wholesale/dealer market will be well under triple net. Further, supply and demand of the wagon is just that; there are less cause the demand is less. Autotrader and Cars.Com are just asking prices but rarely if ever do they sell at these asking prices. Now Porsche is a different story with such limited 991.2's out there and the demand is still up.

The only wagon that has sold at Manheim was a 5.0 car (perfect) with 925 miles for 103k back in April.
I'm not talking about Benz dealer. I am talking about private party. Private buyers don't have a lot of options right now.

Dealer trade-in is always same as auction which typically is $15-20k below PPV.

2019 E450 Cabriolet and 2019 E450 Wagon.
When I went to sell my 2012 about a year ago I had no luck with private party routes like auto trader etc. the car was mint but had 52 k miles. The dealer I was buying my 2018 through wanted to give me 35 k for the car which was not enough. I found another Benz dealer that had a used 2015 S550 Sedan I really wanted and I was able to talk them up to 45k for my 2012. Point is dealer trade ins are not always bad if they really want to sell another car. It was my 2012 plus 18k cash. Not a bad deal at all. A dealer can sell your 2018 much easy than you can. They can certify it and buyers feel more comfortable with that. The 2015 only had 31k miles and has been a great car.

And hence my qualifier talking about private party sales...since this thread first started but your 15-20k number on AMG is a heavy ask for a bump on private sale. I gave my thoughts based on wholesale and ACV from the dealership level.

Trade in's are not always that much lower than private sales. It truly depends on the brand and model but with AMG its pretty bad. But there are a few AMG's that are stronger in comparison like the Black Series SLS and even my C.

There is no way a private sale bumps up to 107- as you might think with your 15-20k valuation. (i gave a low 90 acv) unless someone is lost in the weeds. I think I know this space reasonably well I do think he can get higher 90's but even the OP has stated he has a low ball hit. It will be interesting to see....

EG: I priced my E63S with a dealer and I got 110 on buy... private sale will no chance yield 125 especially based on the age of my car and/or his.

This is a unique care and unique sale. Ultimately it is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Fortunately I am not in a rush but will need to part with the car in the next few months. I do not expect to get 107k but 82K is crazy. I listed it on cars.com for 99,900 and have had multiple solid inquires.

I've always seen a massive spread on cars I've sold privately between PPV and dealer trade in:

2001 330CI offered $5.5k sold for $15k
2012 550i offered $55k sold for $72k
2013 M5 offered $65k sold for $85k
2014 M5 offered $55k sold for $78k
2015 Jag Coupe offered $60k sold for $78k
2015 C300 offered $22k sold for $32k

Dealers make more money on used cars than new. It's a scam. I would only sell by PPV or consignment.

Look at the age of your cars vs when sold them, it wasnt less than a year was it (I aleady know this so your point is moot)... you never dump a car less than 1 year into the cycle let alone even 2 LOL. Your cars are old when you go to market and you are not a dealer so who cares. The OP is asking for a value now on a short lived car; do the math its primary depreciation is in the first 2 years. Ive had 35 cars in 10 years and none of your commodity cars compare and if you actually pushed dealer via retail sale on trade your ACV's would bumped. ...all I do is watch the market cause its my job and all you do is ask me for advice

A scam? or a business... you are a one off. Of course dealers make more money on used cars than new. Are you privy to their financials? I am, its part of the car business. Move new cars to create marketshare and lease returns via service and part ops. Move used cars based on gross.

I agree, 82 was low ball but thats just an offer which you clearly would not take. I deal in the car business and understand the regular ebb and flow. I will never ever compare my personal experiences cause they are unique to the market. And as i said, your car wholesale is low 90's so a 7k bump is fair based on the shot run of the ownership.

Down the road you could go to the dealer and get an ever lower offer yet sell it for much more because its downstream in the cycle, my assessment to you and above is that your car is too new in the cycle to get a nice private party offer but higher 90's is strong

Two of those cars were only 12 months old. The 2012 one and the 2013 one. The Jag was 18 months old.

Well there you have it, 5 year old transactions that cant be verified vs facts and analysis on a car here. Again Mit, your situation is just that situational to a time in a place and clearly you didnt do a good job getting an ACV on your trades nor do we have data on the miles, condition, market, etc....

I have had all your cars when you had them or before (M's and Jag) and your dealer offerings are hilarious even back then.

The facts here are straight up: miles, msrp, real invoice and expert advice from not just me (Wassaby)

But I have to call BS on your 2013 M5 getting an ACV of 65k after 1 year since I have had 2 of them and my 2013 with a lowly 105k msrp traded without favor for 94k at a dealer yet you got a 65k offer??? How many miles did you have after 12 months

If you have data that applies to this thread, Id welcome the facts.

Paul, just looked at your car on Autotrader. I'd say it's listed at a fair price. Very nice car, very similar to my build only mine is red. Makes me sad my car has probably depreciated over 20 grand in less than a year of ownership, but thats the way it goes with these cars first year especially. A couple of suggestions. 1) I would not show your license plate number on the net, not a good idea. 2) the front plate in that location does not look good. I'd just remove if you take new pictures, maybe for the rear just make your own paper plate that says AMG or something like that. Just a couple suggestions, I dealt in cars for many years. I do think you will get 98k for the car if you market it right. I'd take some better interior pictures too if I were you. It takes time, but you got a heck of nice car there so I think you'll see some activity on it.

Too many
So I guess the $1/ mile depreciation MBZ gave me was rational.

Thanks for the advice. I will make those changes! I read that someone just traded one in like mine for 100k which is great. I keep getting low ball offers which is insulting but I am not in a rush.

We bought a 2018 diesel x5. This is my wife's vehicle and we have 2 young boys. Always wanted the e63s and happened upon it CPO this past January. Frankly it is more than I can realistically afford. Loved the car. We will miss it but not much given its role in our life

They made the 10k++ on the 2018 X5 then. They just didn't gift you 100k for the E63S with that many miles and it was a CPO to boot.

I have 4 kids but they're all Beagles much more affordable not only financially but time which both of us in careers leaves no time for 2 legged kids.

You can wait forever it's just going to go down, sorry but that's reality and the moment MY19s are released (mine's on a ship to VPC this week or next) then yours will take another hit.

I know you are in no rush but waiting for a better deal means you don't want to take a heavy loss. Almost for sure won't get better and you have to hope you find a retail buyer.

These issues of having to find a buyer are almost totally why I lease and the other thing is I don't want to bother with protection wraps and other things anymore. I'm treating these vehicles like the depreciating assets they are use and return and I'll always want the newer gen tech in 3 years.

Pentium7.
I paid 10% off the sticker of the X5. A diesel no less ( which SOME could argue is a desirable vehicle). Then they showed me 100k on top of it. With that being said, I know it was going straight back to the MB dealer where I bought it because I set the deal up. So... I think I traded for 100k, if not very very close
