Euro Headlights
Just picked up a E63s ED 1. Love this beast but keep looking at photos of the cars in Europe and the headlights look so much better without the Amber.
Has anyone done this mod? If so where did you find them and how much?
Thanks!

You can buy those headlights from Europe if you have connections there. But you will need a new headlight control unit and re-programme this into your car.
Or you can go to the custom shop who are doing a quality job, open your own headlights and remove that amber reflector.

Here's how/where to get it done. A post I made earlier in the CLA forum.
"Long story short, is my daughter got a loaded CLA - albeit LED headlights. She and I hate the plain lights. Suffice to say, no dealer wanted to tackle the retrofit. Their words were, they service MB's and that's it. I researched this for months. I believe this is pretty much the only guy that does this and he is very reasonable. Here goes a plug for him. His name is Shuliang Tang out of Guangzhou, China. You can easily search (CLA 250 LED Conversion) and find him on youtube. In his videos, you can see he has one heck of an operation and knows what he is doing. There is no remote programming anymore, as you get an OBD connector you plugin that configures it for you - very nice. I paid Western Union and he shipped the same day and took pics and gave me the tracking number. I had the lights delivered to my door in 8 days. I had a few questions and jumped on to Wechat and he answered them and took care of me. This is an app and it also translates for you and works pretty good. His Wechat ID is 13829750307. Any questions on the process let me know. I'm more than glad to help anyone out."
These guys are the real deal. Here is their youtube channel. Pretty impressive their operation and what they can do.

It may be somewhat passable on a black car. If that was done on this headlight and because of the car color it would stick out like a sore thumb.

I’m the only person who has done this retrofit in the US. All in, I’m at about $12K for the lights, Xentry hardware, tablet, and legit access to Daimler systems. I also have a few colleagues in engineering who helped update my VIN and make the car no longer a US model.
This is nowhere near plug and play. And no plug-in module exists. The 213 chassis is very different from the CLA.

Hmm..Pretty interesting..Looks like something I would want on my C43. It sucks being in Germany but limited to having to purchase US Spec....

Here is a link showing the W213 lights. Red OBD connector that configures it is in the boxes up front.
This is my OBD he provided that I plugged in and configured it for me without Xentry.

I’m curious about the software he used because I could probably “open source” variant coding portions too, the same way I made a command line tune flasher

I cracked the handheld lowering module and can lower any W213 for $20 with https://store.protofusion.org/product/canable/

Have you tried HHTs?

I think he is talking about some sort of retrofitting different stuff like adding CCB brakes to the car with iron brakes that will require coding and many other things.

Central Powertrain Controller means ECU + TCU, Engine Control Unit and Transmission Control Unit. If they're packaged together, it's a CPC.
