F90 M5 leases are going for $1,250/mo
$5k June lease program rebate plus dealers are giving $14k off with minimal effort
MSRP $119,625 Discount -14,106 Lease Rebate -5,000
Sales Price $101,519
36/10K Lease
Residual 55%
Money Factor 0.00165
Payment = $1.178.77 plus tax (at 6-7% you are looking at $1,250/mo - $1,260/mo)
No Cap Reduction, just 1st pmt, DMV and BMW Acq fee, plus some Dealer Fees of $80 Doc Prep & $20 Tire Fee as Total Drive Off
That's a TON of car for the money... I would bet that most E63 leases here (with $0 down towards cap) are $1,800/mo - $2k/mo. Hell... $1,300/mo is C63 money...
I take it Mercedes is going to do pretty much nothing to try to "match" or "compete" with BMW being aggressive on their M5 leases because... Mercedes really doesn't care to subsidize the E63s (or any of the big boy AMGs really) to pad sales numbers? Anybody with any more knowledge on the subject care to share their opinion?

Good, AMG shouldn't drop the price of the E63S to match the M5. If I recall, I don't believe that either car was ever similar with one another in terms of lease rates (with the M5 always being substantially cheaper), but that is something no one really talks about when comparing them. The MSRP never tells the full story... The $145k Maserati GT and $160k BMW i8 are cheaper to lease than the E63S. Keep it exclusive instead of padding sales numbers, it'll attract the right kind of clientele.

MB has no interest in matching the fire sale of M5's. This is nothing new; this that been going on for a long time... BMW would push a ton of inventory to the dealers and market the M-cars at the same MF of other BMW's while offering unrealistic residuals. The loss on these cars would be offset by their SUV profits. It's a numbers game...
That said, the M5 is a fantastic car and an absolute bargain. If the M5 Competition would have been out when we got our E63s, I would have to think twice even though I like the look of our E much better. Am thinking about the M8 but unlike the M5, that car is stupid money...

The M8 will be cheaper of course but the car will cost quite a bit more than the M5 and carries a lower residual if the M850i is an indicator. Comp package is a $13k option on the M8 and with options should quickly hit $160k.
If priced right though, I'll swap the E63s for the M8

are they “keeping it exclusive” by watering down the amg brand with e43 / e53? and is it keeping it exclusive or ripping off their customers/not offering fair deals?

I think the GT 63s takes the cake at this point. I don't recall the exact math but Vic looked at it and the car optioned is between $3500-$3800 a month leased. That's stupid money!

Well if it’s poised to be as the coupe version of the 7 series, isn’t it more in line with the S class coupe? Pricing for that is obviously higher than the regular S class sedan. The 4 series is the coupe version of the 3 series. Unless I’m mistaking something. I’ve never owned a Bimmer although I’d come very close.

I suppose you’re right. They haven’t said anything about a 6 series and it would have been due now after the 5. Unless they’re worried it would cannibalize the sales of the 8. I don’t get what they’re doing to their branding.

I don’t get why BMW “wants” to have cheap leases for the M5 (to get it into the hands of as many as possible) but AMG doesn’t?

BMW has been killing off the 6 series due to slow sales. The 8 series was fashioned after the S-Class coupe/cab in terms of high-end, low volume specialty car. One of their execs said at the time that if they can't sell a lot of them, might as well make more money on each car.
That said, they haven't succeeded. The S-Class coupe has no B-pillars and is airy and luxurious. The M8 has quality materials but is functional instead of luxurious and the interior is dark and cramped.
Still not bad though. It is a very capable car. Just like Porsche, the M5/8 has a more compliant chassis than the E63s with an actual Comfort mode. My wife will appreciate that Still BMW is delusional and thinks that the car is a Porsche Turbo killer. This is a go-fast GT.

maybe i haven’t driven in a honda civic recently enough to know what “not stiff” is, but none of my wives/girlfriends tell me my e63s is viagra stiff
it seems like anything that can’t be numerically measured (like how stiff a car is) will forever be up for eternal debate...

i don’t wanna start a flame war but i feel like one well respected guy on the forums said “ouch, my back, the e63s is so stiff” and everybody just ran with it

The E63s is firmness could be fixed in seconds by just calibrating the suspensions air pressure for that setting. It wouldn't make the car less sporty. Our AMG GTC has the Dynamic Plus package and sport suspension, yet it is more compliant and also more capable at speed. Less compromise there.
In an ideal world we would all have fantastic roads and none of this would actually matter
