Use OEM wheels with winter and summer set up and swap every year?
Who is using their OEM wheels with two sets of tires winter / summer and swapping them. Is this reasonable option and what are the downsides?

Downsides : more time on tire fitting, extra cost for alignment
if you got very heavy winters with lots of snow and non cleaned roads, its better to go with 19" instead of 20" for better grip.

I used to have 2 sets of tires with stock wheels but found it takes lots of time to swap tires twice a year, also not that cheap. $120 twice a year + $200 an alignment twice a year. I bought 2nd set of wheels and wrapped OEM wheels with snow tires, now I can change wheels whenever I need myself and should not ride on dry pavement with snow tires with temperatures over 32F.

I bought 3rd party wheels & OEM recommended snows and couldn’t be happier. Remember snows have better adhesion then summers any time the temp is less than 45F. No need to worry about switching out snows when it goes above 32.

I swapped my stock Dunlop’s for Michelin AS3+ on my C63S and was very happy with them. They don’t have those for this car unfortunately. That’s why the dilemma. Am considering Bridgestone pontenzas all seasons. I much prefer one set for year round though I’ll say love these PS4S for summer.

Also might not be ideal for the tire beads and materials inside to be stretched so many times over its life.

Tirerack recomend a 19 square set up so we did 265x40 19s all the way around... on some aftermarket wheels also from tirerack. No issues around the calipers. Perfect fit... I thought I would need spacers for look due to not having 295s on the back but they looked fine and the MB dealer switching out the wheels for me recommended not doing spacers... mostly because they said you would just sling more crud down the rear of the car.

They were called Flow One brand, Model "F1" - funny if I search by wheels for an E63 they do not come up... but if you go through the winter tire and wheel packages.. for and E63 they come up... here is a pic I put in another thread today called "winters". Hope this helps.

@Carac Do you know for sure that 19 inch wheels can be used with CCBs and if so do you know the size of the OEM winter wheel package--any help would be appreciated. Also wondering how the E63s does in snow with proper snow tires.
Thanks

Thanks Carac--this is helpful but the OEM wheels are pricey and I am not thrilled with the look of the OEM 19" wheels. I am wondering whether anyone has used any 19" non-OEM wheels with the CCBs for their snows. I wouldn't have thought that different 19" wheels had significantly different inner circumferences such that they would cause problems with the CCB discs/calipers but maybe I am wrong.

24Hours--I remember having read somewhere else on this forum that you need to use 20" wheels if you have CCBs, which I do, but Carac posted a pic of the OEM 19" wheel with CCBs--do you know whether the OEM wheel is different than most aftermarket wheels such that they will cause problems with the CCB disk or caliper?

I was able to find after market 19 inch wheels that worked for my snows, but it required a tire guy that knew what he was doing and willingness to physically try the rims to make sure they work on the car. Of the 3 rims he ordered in to try, only 1 worked.

We used the same wheels only because we have the wheel/tire protection (simple for damages) and they look decent.

Thank you Wolfman--I hadn't thought about my wheel and tire insurance. I am assuming that the insurer will cover the wheel damage but not damage to an aftermarket snow tire. What snow tire did you go with and what sizes?
