Ordering a 2021 E63 Wagon

Has there truly been a ceramic brake shortage? I wasn't aware of that??
Yes I know of the HUD issue--my dad had the same issue on it w his S class. I just find that interesting as it would seem to not be a rare item in and of itself. I've never heard of the same for PCCBs for Porsche.

Iīm about to order one as well (E63s wagon), however I live in Sweden... My dealer says they will start build the facelifted E63s in november, and if I order "today", my car will problably be built in december and delivery will be in feb.
I havenīt been able to verify if he speaks the truth or not. Have anyone got a build date in october for instance?

Just put in an order for the new 2021 E63 Wagon, and came on the forums to see if I could get some more info. Now, after reading your post, you kinda have me nervous that my dealer is doing this to me. I went in person and we built the order and submitted it in front of his computer. I also put down a $5000 deposit. However, I asked what was next, and he stated that the next step is to wait for a slot, and I do believe he said that they did not have a slot available yet. He also said that it will probably be a month for the slot. After reading this, and my dealer not having an allocated slot or the "decade" (still don't fully understand this), I feel that he is leading me on?
What are your thoughts? Do I cancel the deposit and find another dealer? There is a dealer close by that has a 700 car inventory.
Thanks

You should always order a Mercedes in front of the sales agent's computer, watching him grab an allocation.

If it's a small dealership, maybe not. The big advantage of the chains, like AutoNation, is that they trade allocations within the group. The little guys don't have anyone to trade with.

They can trade with all the indie dealers and small groups out there nationwide. Tons of places for them to look. I needed an A4 status for the paint and my guy went out and got it done. It just depends on how bad they want to do it...they usually have to fork over a decent allocation, which these days Im not sure what that might be...non AMG g-class?

Now I am more than worried about my order. I emailed the dealership this past week asking for a status on my order, and they said it was "in the system" and they will "send me more information when they have it." Which sure sounds like "we have no allocation, buzz off."
If they don't have an allocation, what do I do? There is not a lot of MB dealers around this town. its not like I can just bounce from one dealer to the next. Do I pull the order and go to another dealership?

Quackle...no reason you need to stay in-state. Up front, negotiate transportation into your deal along with your discount. Sometimes it's easier to get discounts on an "out of market" sale with an out of state dealer. I will PM you a contact to try, even though they are about as far away from you as possible.

All this back and forth.... I built mine over 2 months ago and still no build spot!
I gave up and assumed someone's M5 lease for a year. I am sure there will be more available next year with more discounts.
Good luck to you guys still trying to get the 2021s. I am bowing out for a year....come on 2022s!!!

I input my configuration on 7/1 and gave the dealer a $5K deposit. My dealer secured an allocation on 8/2. I received the PO number with the car being built during the second decade in November. I was told at the time that there were only 9 wagons allocated for November for the entire US. I would expect that additional allocations would be forthcoming for future months. Patience is a virtue in this constrained environment.

I've ordered mine yesterday (e63s estate). Today dealer mailed me and told me end of January delivery, so I guess what he previously stated, build in December was correct. ( live in sweden)
Also, I've been trying googling any testdrives of the facelifted version or so, If you have noticed there are none yet. Try searching youtube and all you will find is interior/exterior vids with revving engines. There must be some kind of NDA or they donīt want youtubers to review the pre production cars. There is only one video on the tube where they drive, produced by mercedes themselves (
).
If you check all the facelifted e63 on sale on mobile.de (europe biggest site for new and second hand cars), on the facelifted e63s, several of them has the code "pre production car", in german "#05 FS Vorführfahrzeuge". So my guess, the reason why your dealers cannot tell you regarding the start of the production of the non preproduction cars itīs covid19 related or something. My dealer said that production of the first cars actually starts in nov, but I can not verify that.

Build slots
Dealers will take your order/deposit any day of the week. Build slot/allocation is what you need to get the car built. The first round of build slots for the US was around 9 cars. Next allocations come out in a few days.

go fast grocery getter wagon
Canada allocation status ... as of this month.
I spoke to my dealer and MB Canada is not giving out any allocation to any dealers across Canada. Anyone who wants one may submit their orders (conditional or not) thru the dealerships and then they will get reviewed by MB Canada accordingly. It will be on queue system as first come, first serve basis. So, it is no longer each dealer gets x number of E63 wagon & sedan allocation per month. In other words, my SA said the order can sit for many months with no words from MB Canada.
SA said the factory is still having major supply chains issues in filling past spec. orders (AMG and regular models), there is simply no way things will be back to normal for the next 6 months at the minimum.
I was going to order the wagon but it seems that hope is now dashed. If I wait and consider to order a MY2022 (suppose things are back to normal by then), I would rather not get this at all as it is fairly close of seeing the next generation of E class out in a matter of 1.5-2 yrs time.

There may be specific options that cannot be reliably fulfilled, but I doubt that the factory can't create a BOM for a car for on-hand parts.

So, your were able to configure a build and then received an approximate delivery date. That sounds about right for the process. I would think that a centralized allocation/build process would be more efficient than dealers trading allocations. What was your build?
