Lane/brake assist
Agreed. LDW is really annoying. Slams on the brakes every time I exit the highway close to my house and drive over the yellow line. I just turned it off.

Can it be "toned down"? The BMW rental I had for a while allowed a decent bit of latitude before it got aggressive, and you could stop the beeping and manage how intrusive it was. On my last MB loaner, I almost got INTO an accident because the damn car kept beeping at me during lane changes, merging and on ramp entrances..... Therefore I didn't even bother to "fine tune" it on the new wagon - just shut it off.
I don't think AMG folks are in the target market for these particularly aggressive "driver assist" things.

What happens is you are along side someone passing them and they decide to get in yoru lane so you are forced out of your lane in emergency move.
But the SMART MB pulls you right back into this other car and well ACCIDENT..
Had it almost happen to me many times until I turned it off..
Nothing will scare you more then an 18 wheeler moving over into yout lane and yoru car trying to brake you into this truck as you fight both trying to steer away from truck...
also can be a PIA if soemthing is in your lane like truck tire, igloo or something else that fell off another vehicle in your lane and you need to quickly swerve..

in this case, all the radar systems see what is going on and react accordingly. This system works in conjunction with many other systems. It won’t push you into an accident

The Distronic cruise features and self driving bits are nice during heavy traffic to keep the car at a distance from whoever you're following without constantly adjusting the cruise control. Nice on open highways too where you can munch a sandwich or drink a beverage or whatnot and let the car do its thing for a few seconds.
For what it's worth, for fun I tested to see what happens if you don't grab the wheel when prompted. The car will eventually brake and haul the car to a stop. Not a surprise.
While you can turn off the lane departure warning, the anti-collision feature remains engaged. I think you can turn down the sensitivity a bit, but not sure that you can turn it off all together.
If you're spiritedly driving through traffic and shooting for a gap and planning an aggressive lane change, be advised that the car will engage the seat belt tensioners, slam on the brakes and perform various other bits of chicanery that might actually cause an accident if you're cutting too fine of a gap between cars. Makes the lane departure warning seem quite mild in comparison.

There was a series of posts that covered this a year ago or so where several of us did some experiments.
You can get the car in 4-cylinder mode briefly when you enter cruise control mode, but as soon as any condition that requires 8-cylinder mode comes along the car will leave 4-cylinder mode and never return.
Leaving cruise control mode and driving manually the 4-cylinder mode and glide mode go back to working again. Enter cruise control mode and poof, they stop working again.
Fuel economy is better when you're driving manually in a conservative mode than letting the car drive.
That said, if I was that worried about it, I'd be driving a Smart Car ;-)
the radar does not do anything and yeah I had to clean my drawers twice while driving....when 18 wheeler ran me off the road and car want me to drive under truck...
Radar does not see dead tires in road either.
So from now on... Lane Departure is turned off on my ride...
Glad they fixed it in later years

While I never saw glide mode during this trip, I believe I understand the reason for this: no matter what, glide mode will not activate if the engine is already in 4-cylinder mode. I played a lot with this over the last weeks of doing this "COVID commute" (driving my brother to/from work so that he doesn't have to take public transit) and glide mode only ever activates if the engine is running on all 8 cylinders as you back off on the gas.
