Software Upgrade and New Sound
Hello everyone,
I just had the software upgrade for the cpu to resolve issues with CEL for cylinder 1 and 6 which, by the way, I never experienced. I find that now when I start the car, cold or warm it has a sort of burst through the exhaust similar to my '13 C63. I'm not complaining about it as it sounds great but the car never sounded quite like this before. I've also noticed a few burbles (no pops though like in sport +) when decelerating in C mode too, especially at low speeds. Has anyone else noticed the same thing after this software upgrade?

This is correct. I received a letter from MB as my vin# fell into the batch of vehicles that might experience the CEL. You have to present the letter to your service advisor according to the instructions in the letter. I had this done in conjuction with the B service. Oh, as a side note, I felt no reduction in acceleration up through triple digits (tested on a certain Mexican road).

The misfire that started with its new 2018 model year with the new engine and transmission and continued through 1st and 2nd quarter of 2019, new software fix came out the 4th quarter of 2019 and all 2020 should have already had the newest software. MBusa bought back ( lemon law ) quite a few of the 2018 and some 2019 AMGs because the software fix didn’t come until the 4 quarter of 2019.
