Spacers and Tire Life

I hear that the consensus form this forum is to go with 15mm front and 12mm rear spacers for the optimal muscular stance. Question is... does that cause any issues with the life of the tires? Is any additional mod necessary to compensate for any geometry change incurred by the spacers like it seems to be the case when lowering the w213?

Where do you buy the spacers from?

Any input from those of you running spacers? Have you experienced shorter lifespan and/or uneven wear on your tires?

You may have difficulty finding someone that has gone just with spacers. It seems that anyone that is doing spacers is also dropping.

I have had spacers on my non "lowered" car for 20K miles... absolutely no effect on my wear on both summer PS4s and winter Dunlop 3D tires... all good. go for it.

Call these guys, tell them you have an E63 and ask them for the "Vic Special". They will hook it up.

I would love to drop mine too, but the shape of my driveway prevents me from doing it without scraping bottom...

I think you'd be surprised by how much clearance these cars still have at -32mm. Way more than my CLS did

I'm using the OBD lowering module. The module allows you to change your baseline (within reason). I'm set to 20mm drop. When I press the raise button (left of steering wheel) I'm back to stock height. So if you can navigate your drive at stock height then you can lower. You just raise it for the driveway. I'm frequently using the raise function getting in/out of parking lots/etc when there is a steeper than normal transition.

You know, that's a good point. I can clear my driveway (just barely) without having to raise as is today. If I were to drop it with a module, hitting the raise button would simply bring it back to stock height. I could live with that... That being the case, circling back to the issue of tire wear, what needs to be done to offset the geometry change to minimize tire wear issues?

Someone in another thread mentioned installing special A arms to offset that.... I don't know the first thing about what that means. Anyone can provide more details... and cost of such mod?

I bought mine from https://f1-fabrication.myshopify.com...ions/frontpage You'll need to contact them as the adjustable W213 arms don't show on their web site. When I bought them they were $595 and I opted for the OEM bushings to control noise. My shop charged me $435 for install and an additional $200 for a 4 wheel alignment. I live in a high cost area so you may be able to get a better deal. This is something you want done by someone that knows what they're doing. Definitely not a Discount Tire thing.

Another thing to keep in mind is that mods like this take you out of the warranty and usually dealer sphere. If you break something in the suspension you're on your own as the dealer will deny any warranty claims if what breaks is related to the mods. Engine/transmission/body/etc problems are still covered under warranty but something like a air suspension airline would be denied.
