Well after over a year wait I am finally getting my wagon, it arrived at CT dealership yesterday morning and will be ready for pick up Tuesday. Even though this build dose not have the requested active seats and performance steering wheel it is so awesome I can't refuse. My second build has been delayed again from a 3D May build to next month and even at that point it will mostly likely be waiting after build for missing components. FYI this car came with Michelin Pilot sport 4s so very glad to see that. If anyone is interesting in pursuing my second build I would be happy to connect you to my dealership, just PM me.

Congrats on finally receiving your wagon! Which performance steering wheel didn't you receive (there are 3)?

Thank you, I only had a choice of two, back when I ordered the car there was a choice of 3 but I think now with the newer wheel design there is only two, I wanted the Dinamica/with yellow stitching, ended up with standard wheel as they are out of stock on performance wheels. It's "ok" but the feel does not seem to awesome as the rest of the interior does with carbon IMO. I'm sure if I want to switch out someday it will be a whole lot more than $100 bucks as the options was in pre-order.

??? There are 3 AMG performance steering wheels: All Napa leather; partial leather+Dinamica, all Dinamica. Are you saying you didn't get an AMG wheel with the drive units?

No I did get the drive units. If you go try to build one today on MBUSA I think you will only see two wheel options not three anymore, I think both are now standard with heating elements or at least the base one is which I have.

I just talked to my sales guy, he said MY21 still in the process, no word on canceling MY21 and transfer to MY22.

I’m guessing that they may still be making X amount of MY21s. If your allocation is anything beyond X then they are getting pushed to 22. Mine is now assigned to a ship. But no ship name yet.

My MY22 sedan build was just bumped from July to September, even without multi-contour seats. Looks like I'll be breaking it in over Minnesota winter.

Had my dealer check this afternoon, my 22 wagon is holding steady to its original 3D/July date

Well about 6 months on the nose since placing my order and I finally have an allocation. 2022 wagon for 1st decade of November production. So, hopefully I'll have a nice Christmas present this year. A bit bummed that's it's so far out after waiting this long for an allocation but oh well. That'll make it 1 year without an AMG wagon by the time it arrives. Nearly unbearable!

My E53 is currently on a ship on the way to Baltimore, scheduled to arrive July 5. Order was placed the first week of February and original build was last decade of May. Turned out to be exactly a two week delay, which all things considered isn't that bad.

My build is still showing as 3D/July, but hasn’t turned “red” yet in the system which I suspect means my build will be delayed.

I was a 4th decade build for May and then June and my car is now in limbo, too. No idea when/if it will get built. When I question the dealer for information, I’m getting the timeline of “two weeks to two months” response. Sounds like they’re just spitballing at this point. Hell, I wouldn’t even mind if it got pushed to MY22 so long as it was a definitive conclusion to this situation, but as it stands right now, this car could be be delivered alongside MY22 cars which would be pretty ridiculous.

My wagon was originally to be built the 3rd decade of May. I reached out to dealer around Memorial Day. Not built, no idea when it will get built. Reached out again, after Fathers Day, not built, no idea when it will get built. Asked if I’m going to get a 22, no idea !! So, haven’t heard squat since then. Seems pretty cryptic to me. My guy really has no clue and I doubt I’m going to see anything in the near future. I sure hope build quality isn’t affected by delays and shortages. So far, less than impressed with MB.

I feel badly for those of you stuck with no way of getting information that is reliable. It's hard to imagine that your situation makes my drawn out ordeal look smooth and quick. It is just ridiculous that MB doesn't seem interested in communicating with buyers to let you know a status. I own three and the more I deal with them at any level the less impressed I am. Good luck to you, I hope your situation resolves with a positive outcome.

I'm in the same exact boat as ska597 and My2010M3. Looks like there's a widespread issue here. This is my first Mercedes and first new car and it's just been an abysmal experience. It's crazy to me MY22 cars have statuses and ETAs and all of us MY21 wagon folks have no updates on when the vehicles will get built.

To be fair to Mercedes this isn't unique to them whatsoever. A few weeks ago I read that Ford and GM had to cut their production by HALF for 2021. That's insane. The supply chains are just not there. I'm in large/institutional building construction and just about everything is non-existent and prices are way up, so it doesn't surprise me. Sure they could probably do a better job communicating and explain the difficulties, but I suspect they don't have much to tell us.

Everyone waiting for 21's: you might be better off telling your sales people to convert to 22's now because I suspect 21 production has already ended and your 21 order might be stuck in going-nowhere allocation land. My 22 isn't getting built until November though, so be prepared to wait longer...

So interestingly, my dealership claims that even the MY22s are delayed and that MB’s priority is to complete their remaining MY21 orders. Like I said, it really sounds like he’s making things up as he goes in order to avoid losing business. He claims that his inventory manger, who apparently knows everything there is to know about Mercedes because he’s been with the company for over 20 years (I say this very sarcastically), claims that the entire E-class line is delayed. When I ask about converting my order to MY22 to avoid getting a year old car at delivery, he tries to deter me from going down that route by stating what I’ve mentioned above. I’m currently holding a September spot for an RS6 with DRC, which was the prerequisite feature I wanted when the car debuted last year, and at this rate, I’m likely to switch to that rather than get a MY21 for full price while others are getting MY22s. While I appreciate the circumstances regarding supply chain issues and the uncertainty the dealers may face, I don’t appreciate the lack of communication, the appearance of being less than truthful to avoid losing business. And I think everyone here that’s waiting for a car would be much more appreciative if their dealers got their stories together and just said, “I really have no idea when your car is coming or what’s going with Mercedes.”

To be clear, my dealer hasn’t given me any run around. “I’m not sure what is happening, but we’re asking and we’ll let you know when we find out” isn’t something anyone wants to hear, but it’s better than smoke up the tailpipe.

The chip priority is going to the S-class cars at the expense of E-class production. Historically, the current model year production will be fulfilled before the next model year is started. Your car may already be produced minus the appropriate control modules/chips. The cars will be stored until the needed parts become available. It's unfortunate that people are getting caught in all of these delays. Your dealer only has the information given to him by the region who gets their information from the factory not in real time.

I think the best bet if you want this car is to get what you can whether it be MY21 or 22. There is practically no difference in the 2 years except a color and an option or 2. Just because someone has an MY22 planned for production in July or august or September doesn’t mean they will actually meet that timeline. I suspect many people that have MY22 won’t even see those cars until the end of the year or January at the earliest.

Spoke to my dealer today, supposedly my car is here.....he said back in June it was affected by the chip shortage (the connected services?). He was hopeful that by the time it arrived it would be all set, but not sure what the status is. He's gonna do some asking and try and find out tomorrow. I suppose it could be any day or take a little while?
