So interestingly, my dealership claims that even the MY22s are delayed and that MB’s priority is to complete their remaining MY21 orders. Like I said, it really sounds like he’s making things up as he goes in order to avoid losing business. He claims that his inventory manger, who apparently knows everything there is to know about Mercedes because he’s been with the company for over 20 years (I say this very sarcastically), claims that the entire E-class line is delayed. When I ask about converting my order to MY22 to avoid getting a year old car at delivery, he tries to deter me from going down that route by stating what I’ve mentioned above. I’m currently holding a September spot for an RS6 with DRC, which was the prerequisite feature I wanted when the car debuted last year, and at this rate, I’m likely to switch to that rather than get a MY21 for full price while others are getting MY22s. While I appreciate the circumstances regarding supply chain issues and the uncertainty the dealers may face, I don’t appreciate the lack of communication, the appearance of being less than truthful to avoid losing business. And I think everyone here that’s waiting for a car would be much more appreciative if their dealers got their stories together and just said, “I really have no idea when your car is coming or what’s going with Mercedes.”
