I'm not interested in tracking the car. Totally different setups between the two.

I should be able to fetch a really good sale price given that it has every option except the CF engine cover. YMMV
Whoa. If prices are crazy now, wait and see what happens if the wagon is d/c'd in this market.

Check out this build at MB Portland. Car not available, just found the build interesting. When you build these cars you simply need to check all the boxes IMHO. Not rocket science. Haha

Just realized my check engine light has been on since taking delivery. No warnings or messages just never goes out.

Also, from now on, if you want a convertible you'll have to buy an SL. Pretty sure they stated that the SL is replacing the AMG GT roadster and whatever replaces it.

Do you have an OBD scanner? What's the stored code? No messages equals a temporary condition that cleared itself.

Any autoparts store should have them for sale and some places will let you borrow one for a few minutes too. https://www.autozone.com/test-scan-a...ls/code-reader

Hopefully it's just a code that needs to be cleared. I think I had a single misfire logged on my C63 from bad gas that never happened again after a simple clear.

Pretty good deal if you don’t mind having your warranty voided by MBusa for upgraded turbos.

^^^Yes, that is a good deal if you like those colors.

And thanks for replies re engine light. All the electronics in this car, you'd think we would be past dummy lights.

CEL is dictated by EPA rules that represent emissions system malfunctions, hence why there is an OBD2 port in every current US vehicle and scanners that can read the fault codes. Most scanners can reset the error codes too. Given no messages on the driver display it may just be something that was left over from transporting the car. I assume that you've already checked the gas cap to see if it is seated properly.

Lol I shouldn't be doing this because I have no clue what I'm doing but bought diagnostic tool from NAPA. Tech like it's from 30 years ago. MSDOS. Got this coolant thermostat code and erased it.

Just received a call from my sales person at MB of Danbury CT. My second build has just arrived at their dealership and is available as prior sale fell through. This is a great build in Lunar Blue with Titanium Grey / Black w/ Yellow Stitching and two of the missing options I wanted (massage seats and yellow stitching on steering wheel). If anyone is interested please contact Dena Davey of MBDanbury on her cell 203-788-9313

All the best,
Peter Leoni

This was the other build I picked up after you, Peter, had switched to your current build. I’m the person who backed out on it since my initial build was also delivered. I posted it here after I had planned to back out. Apparently now they’re marking it up according to a member here who inquired about it. It’s pathetic.

You do realize that people like you and Peter, with multiple ‘builds’ inflating demand, are a factor in the ridiculous price escalation of these wagons, right?

Hi Alan, thanks for your very non-confrontational, completely unemotional response. I’ve read a few of your posts, and so I’m not surprised by this outburst. Let me briefly fill you on why I had multiple builds. A few months, maybe about May, there was a lot of uncertainty and people’s orders were getting cancelled left and right. I’m sure there were many of us who were told that it was pretty likely that we could lose our orders. Many people, at least those actually wanted the car, quickly sought other orders that were unclaimed yet further along the build process so they could ensure they would get the car. In fact, our good friend OCD was posting almost daily with available orders/builds that were unclaimed. Anyone could have claimed one of these builds, and in fact, I’m sure many people did. I was one such person. My original order was locked in place from March until nearly August with no change in status. I was told that they had no idea whether it would get built, so I did what any rational person who wanted the car would do. I looked around and found another one. I found Peter’s order in July and claimed it since it was already being built. To my surprise, both cars actually got built. Once they arrived, I tried to personally connect other buyers, at least three of them through PMs to the dealer so they could get the car.

Somehow I doubt that my venture truly cost anyone a car or significantly “inflated” this market given that they only make a few hundred of these a year. Peter’s build was available for anyone to pick up. It’s an unscrupulous business model, developed and run by very unscrupulous individuals who have no sense of loyalty to their customers. Why this car, which was available to me for MSRP, is now listed for $25k is more a symptom of what’s going on in the automotive market.

I’m sorry you didn’t get an E63, but I’m sure you won’t shed too many tears in your new SL 63 AMG whenever that arrives. Enjoy it in good health!

All of these build posts must make dealers think that there is a wide audience of users to bid up these cars. It's not a service, IMO, to advertise various builds for dealers including the sales person, etc. It does have the appearance of getting a finder's fee from the dealer for aiding in the sale. My dealer, from whom I have purchased 10 vehicles, does not charge any ADM and only sells at MSRP or less even on hard to get cars. The behavior of some of these dealers is sleazy at best. Personally, regardless of how much I desired a particular car/build, I would walk out in a minute. I purchased my E63S wagon substantially less than MSRP this February. I will purchase my SL63 which is on order for MSRP or less. No gimmicks, no hidden fees. The current behavior of some dealers has been seen in the past when a particular car has been in short supply. I can remember when there was a gas shortage that Honda's and Toyota's were going significantly above MSRP with dealer add-ons of pin striping, paint coatings, additional interior junk.

Coolant and oil temp look OK to me. The coolant indicator is right in the middle (I'm not sure why the manual says lower third, but it is on the first two of the five segments). The oil temp will go a bit higher with steadier driving. Your ambient temperature is 50 degrees at this point.

Oil temp looks cool to me, coolant temp is right where it should be.
