2014 E350 Wagon, 2014 BMW M5
My problem is the M5CS. I don't know what to do with it. I wasn't expecting this level of sophistication. The steering is lively with lots of feedback. Do you remember how the best German cars felt before electric steering? Well this rack feels almost hydraulic. The chassis is smooth and refined. Bumps around corners pose no disruption. The seats are out of this world in both comfort and support. The driver's position and visibility are extraordinary. The car shrinks around you and is effortless to drive. The brakes are flawless. The power delivery is absurd, yet smooth and linear. Throttle response is immediate. I am a very critical person when it comes to cars. I want to hate BMW for their hideous new designs and M-everything branding ruining its heritage. But I'm having a hard time coming up with negatives bigger than the fixed center console is annoying and car should have optional non-bucket seats for those who want to daily drive. It is superior to E63 in both comfort, feel and drivability but falls short on practicality. I'm just a sucker for a wagon. Both cars are so special in their own ways. I really shouldn't have both but don't see myself selling the wagon. I'll keep both for a while and see what happens. We are lucky to have such amazing German cars in the age of Tesla.

Speaking of a lucky time... I'm not a big GM guy, but the new engine in the just-announced C8 Z06 has me salivating.... 670 HP from a naturally-aspirated, flat-plane V8 that revs to 8600. Already sounds good in their announcement video... gonna sound great with an after-market exhaust/downpipes.

^^^That sounds amazing. Appreciate Corvette as I get older. Never owned one but my dad had a bunch. Many have lots of soul.

The fact that it weighs 550 lbs less than the E63S wagon could be significant in how it feels too. If you run out of garage space I'd be happy to store the BMW for you.

Yes, I bet you're right. These cars are all so good though. With the BMW I appreciate how it drives small. With the Mercedes I appreciate how it drives like a tank. Garage space noted!

The Taycan Wagon indicates there will be a RS Etron Avant, which I’ll happily pickup for nearly half price after 3 years…once the chip shortage is over of course.

Agree. OT but FINALLY a good looking SL after many generations of poorly designed models.

Looks incredible from every angle. I love the nods to the R230 while progressing the design. Perfectly done, just wish we could have it in a hardtop.

I have a deposit on the first SL63 which will be delivered to my dealer. The SL63 order banks are will not open until Nov 3 so my build commitment is on paper only. I've confirmed that one cannot order CCB's without ordering the package that has performance seats which I do not want. Price is unknown, but will probably be north of $160K. I will post my build configuration later today.

I agree. It becomes second nature on how to drive an SMG E46. The CSL transmission tune helps a lot.

As someone who still owns a Manual E46 M3 and has often driven friends' SMG cars... there's no comparison. Give me the manual every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Inquiring minds would like to know MBs rationale for introducing a new V8 model for '22, while discontinuing V8s across most of the rest of the line. Having said that, it looks killer!

If I had to guess, their suppliers only have capacity to provide enough parts for a certain number of V8s for the foreseeable future, so they'd rather put those V8s in a higher-margin halo car.

Indeed. It's an elegant color and likely look even better with silver trim and silver wheels. Classy.

I just spent two hours cleaning my nasty Range Rover wheels. Brake dust from steel rotors have destroyed the wheels. Granted I didn't take care of them very well over the years... ceramics are with the $10k only for cleanliness. I don't wash often and with ceramics it makes life a lot easier. I can go months between washes and my cars look amazingly well. The RR looks like trash after a week because the wheels turn black.

Though I generally prefer the chrome trim on these cars, I think I prefer the contrast of the black wheels, window trim, and night package / CF exterior package when the paint color is a lighter grey or white as it is here.

Lone exception: I'm split on Black/Chrome on the BBM cars and the Cardinal Red cars. I've seen it both ways and I like them equally.

And re: the CCBs, the black wheels on the wagon solve that problem.... though I will probably look to upgrade to CCBs at some point down the road when the standards run out.

^^^I priced them out and have a great contact at a MB parts counter that offers nice discounts. $15,800 plus shipping and installation for OEM CCBs. I may do it if I keep the car.

21 E63s wagon
Potential new listing for a 2021 Wagon

Hey all,

I’ve found this forum to be such a great resource the last six months as I’ve transitioned from wanting an RS6 to my recently arrived (and awaiting pick up) E63 wagon! I wouldn’t have gotten the car without the help of people on this forum. In the spirit of wanting to help out others the way I was helped here, I wanted to make the folks out here looking for a wagon aware of a potentially new listing.

In short, I was fortunate in that I actually had two separate orders filled (one was my own custom order, the other was an order I picked up on this forum once my order was frozen but looking like it was going to get cancelled) and I am happy to give a warm hand off to anyone who is interested to the dealer. I can attach the build sheet when I get home, but it is a 2021 E63s Wagon (will follow up exterior colour shortly) with the following big ticket options:
-titanium gray seats and yellow accents
-carbon fibre interior
-driver assistance package, multi contour seats, sun protection and exterior lightning package, HUD.
-20 inch black cross forged wheels

The MSRP on the car is $129k. I can’t guarantee the dealer will honour this price once I back out of the deal. The way the market is, they may decide to let the market decide it’s worth. So all I can really do is just give out the dealers info once I call him and formally relinquish the order.

Let me know if there is interest out there.
