Good news. Exterior window trim is quite simple to remove/install. My only issue now is the lower driver's door piece. Looks like you are correct, Harris, the side mirror must be dropped to get the trim off/on. This may or may not be simple. Stay tuned for more updates. If it weren't for this one piece on either side, it would be a 30 minute DIY job.

Pry off the speaker grill, Remove the screws holding the speaker, but don't disconnect the wires. You now have access to the two Torox bolts securing the mirror. Wrap the mirror in a cloth and let it drop down along the outer door panel (don't disconnect the wires). Reverse procedure after new trim has been installed.
Thanks Harris. I got everything 100% with the exception being the pieces beneath the mirrors. I was able to slide them out and slide them back in without removing mirrors. However, they're not 100%. The area in front of the mirror has a small clip that I can't get to sit right. Just saw your message and removed speaker exposing 1 T20. Problem is I don't have the right tool to get to the T20. It's in a really awkward position so I need to figure it out tomorrow. I'm sure if I remove the mirror it'll be simple to make right. Thanks again.
^^^Always run-of-the-mill builds. Car is worth MSRP only as they will most certainly will be building more in the coming months. Plus the value of these always tanks. Dealers have a lot of nerve. These are NOT Porsche GT cars.

Me. My car, with AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package I, "completed production" back in September but it's still sitting there "waiting for semiconductors." Some control module presumably, or at least that's what my dealer is being told. The dealer said they have several other cars stuck there in the same situation––he mentioned a custom-ordered E350 specifically.
I was told yesterday by a sales associate that the company that produced the carbon for AMG/Mercedes went out of business during COVID shutdowns. They haven't been able to get the carbon pieces to complete cars with that spec. Mercedes is supposedly retooling to make their own carbon and hopefully our cars will ship soon.
Love this car. Been driving it everywhere lately. Definitely a car you can keep a lifetime. Hate the steel brakes though. Drive car for 5 minutes after perfectly cleaned, and the wheels are filthy. Also, likely in my head, but car feels a little clunkier without the ceramics. I'm in a pickle and may bite bullet and spend the $20k, if I can find someone I trust to install the ceramics.

Aren't there aftermarket pads that would reduce the amount of dust? I agree that the OEM pads exhibit a high amount of dust. Maybe you could get a "hover coversion" installed.
IDK but doubt it. I tell you ceramics spoil you and make steel brakes obsolete. I called my local crappy dealer twice trying to get details on installing ceramics and they won't get back to me with hours involved or confirmation that it doesn't require anything more than the obvious parts.
Zeckhausen has been a great help to me in the past regarding brake pads and other braking issues. Worth a call for a recommendation. He has more options than FCP as well.
Nope no car yet, really annoying. The car has been "production complete" since September but sitting somewhere in Germany since. The official response from MB distribution is "semiconductors," but tvitarel (in posts 710-712 above) has noted that the supplier for the exterior carbon trim apparently went bankrupt during covid lockdowns, so MB is making the trim pieces themselves and causing a delay for any cars spec'd with exterior carbon trim (like mine). Plausible, because the cars I've seen delivered recently don't have carbon trim. My dealer agreed it's possible and thought that they'd try to keep that quiet for some reason as well. 🤷🏻♂️
Dumb yes, but you're preaching to the choir. If this carbon thing is indeed the case I'd think they'd contact the customers and ASK if they'd prefer to switch trims versus further delays. But look at the car that is currently available here on the forum from a dealer and all the advertised cars that are on the ground––none have carbon. Could be? Who knows? It's just another rumor.

ocd, I'm with you......never had them but spec'd them on my 2020 which got canceled due to factory closure. I eventually found a similar car without them and will eventual change the steel out for CCBs.
There's got to be a standard reference for a remove/replace, 4 corner rotor change. Ya just don't put the same parts back on. If it was around $20k I can't believe they aren't scrambling to get your business........give or take a few grand.
There’s a guy in the C217 forum with an S63 Coupé, a year newer than mine IIRC in Seattle who’s done a steel to CCB conversion. He documented the whole thing. You may want to search there.
